Clare Balding's my favourite......mmmmmm......all woman!! Although I fear I may not be her 'type'.

Questions I need answered:

1.Why do the England team sing the BRITISH national anthem?
2. Why is time added on ALWAYS full minutes?
3. Whatever happened to Barry Venison as a football pundit?
4. Why did Tony Woodcock's accent sound like a German trying to speak English when he's only lived there for 17 years?
5. Why do Five Live use Danny Mills as a football, rather than boxing, pundit, especially when he tals about the manager giving the team a b****cking live on air?

Answers please on a postcard.

I'm afraid your fears are only too well-founded, David.

Can't help with your questions, but have one of my own: why is everyone courting Graham Taylor's opinion all of a sudden?

Yes, I've heard that. And Kirstie Allsopp. Doesn't diminish the latter's appeal for me one little bit.

Have you seen Cat Deeley's feet? They're heeeeeeuuuge.

Aw, it's a giveaway! Surprisingly enough I don't normally notice her feet when looking at her....it's the crooked mouth that does it for me. And the Allsopp is a bit of a 'guilty pleasure' along with the Woodhall for me.

Anyways, guess we'd better stop being so un-PC.

Perhaps we sing the British anthem because we're usually the only home nation to qualify, thus the British representative!?

Poor old Michael Owen, injury after injury plagued him all season, he gets fit (ish), then gets injured again. Looks like he's gonna be out for at least three months. Newcastle must be wondering when their £16million will begin to be paid off.

Anyway, heres to Ecuador, and after my comment about defence last time, lets hope the sort it out! If they can, i predict 3-1 to the mighty three lions.

Its comming home..........

OK folks - it's your call - you be da manager and picka da team

My shout

SFT (Spud Faced T***** aka Rooney) and Walcott up front

JCole on left, Lampard and Carrick in middle, Gerard out right

ACole left back, Terry and Carragher centre backs and Hargreaves right back.

The above assumes Ferdinand and Neville don't recover

Cheers

He seems to be unable to leave the clothes horse (Beckenham) out, so my guess is:

Robinson in goal.

Back four of A Cole, Ferdinand, Terry, a (nearly recovered) Neville or Carragher.

Midfield will include the Lampard/Gerrard clash which simply doesn't work in the centre, Clothes horse and J (never a left winger) Cole.

Front two will continue to be Shrek and Lanky.

After an hour, Shrek will come off to be replaced by Lennon - Gerrard will move up to support Lanky, Clothes horse will move into the centre and lay on the right. Then J Cole will be replaced by a proper winger (Downing) with about 15 minutes to go.

I don't know why he took Walcott - he's clearly not prepared to risk throwing him on.

These may be 'famous last words' but to take just 4 strikers, with 2 un-matchfit and one who he hasn't got enough faith in to play, seems absolutely crazy, bordering on incompetence (cue Walcott to come on in the final at 0-0 with 15 minutes and score the winner, making him a national hero!).

"Basically England will meet Argentina in the final and Spain will beat Ghana for third place. You read it here first."

But yet I thought you said last week "apart from Cote d'Ivoire the other African nations haven't got a chance. "

Which one is it Sean ??

Unfortunately I'll have to follow it on the internet, I've not even got an AM radio with me for Five Live.

I'm hoping that the almost 'silenzio stampa' that's been operating will bind the team together but we'll see. I expect them to qualify so will make preps to be in front of a TV Monday/Tuesday afternoon, even if it means taking a half day holiday.

I was hoping that Luca Toni would be our Paulo Rossi but the words 'cows arse' and 'banjo' spring to mind!

If they did go all the way, Italy not Rossi, then they will find out just before the final which division Juve will play next season.

I'm hoping it will be just down to Serie B so that Super Napoli can beat them into submission next season.

For those who don't know, Napoli went bust 3 years ago and were sent down to Serie C, the third division. Even so, they regularly get crowds of 40k+ and have recently topped 60k+ (Avellino derby 61,626).

Got promoted last season and are on their way back

[quote]Italy's football prosecutor on Thursday ordered Serie A clubs Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina to stand trial in the nation's biggest sports scandal in a quarter of a century.

The teams, among the elite of Italian football, could be thrown out of the top league if found guilty in a match-fixing sports trial starting next week in Rome's Olympic Stadium.

Re: Cow's arse / banjo comment, does this explain how Toni got 31 goals last year for Fiorentina?

Hope I'm wrong but can't see England doing much now Owen's out and Rooney can only rely on Lurch for striking support, think we needed a 1st choice team. Holland in the quarters could be tricky. We'll have to hope Neville's fit so he can kick Mr.Ed all over the pitch to get his revenge.
