Not a bad ride today. Brilliant weather. I joined the 19mph group and we did 21,6 mph to Charlwood with Paul doing lots of work at the front and a longish thru n off with Steve as a predictable winner of the sprint - I failed to make the selection as a gap opened between me and 4 others.

On the way back it was steady with and 18.5 average. A bit of a dig at the Merstham drag had Steve off the front of a group of 6 but by this time Huw had joined the fray and we caught him and came back to Purley more or less as a group.

Better than England v Portugal!!

Definately a good ride with none of the incidents of the previous week :D

Happy Birthday to Jim who is 80 on Tuesday. Those who don't know him he is the grey haired chap who sits quietly in the cafe at Charlwood on Saturdays and rides off on a Specialized with us chasing him down. He couldn't stay long on Saturday as he had to play in a tennis tournament that afternoon and somebody said that he had a date afterwards!!!!! 8)

I only hope that I'm as fit as that when I'm eighty - he is certainly my inspiration to keep on going....
