Hillingdon 4.07.06 ACC Team

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Meeting at Victoria at 5.50 pm (outside the station where the taxi rank is).
Whose in the line up? Big George (ex enduro champ and natural racer) has agreed to do a guest appearance. David? Jack? Matt ? Basso? Ulrich? Turn up to see who else is in the ACC breakaway on Tuesday at Hillindgon. DS Toks on call.

Hi Ajay,

I might dip my toe in the world of road racing for the first time. I'll be happy if I can just get round . Hope to see you at 5.50. Can you enter on the line and buy a day licence?

Cheers,
Matthew

I may be wrong but after Saturday at Chersey, Jack "the Smiling Macam" Chisolm got himself enough points to make 3rd cat. Hence he has jumped ship and will be swimming in deeper waters at Crystal Palace this Tuesday. The 'make 3rd cat training plan' was carried out with ruthless efficiency and went down as follows: Feb-April ride thru and off with early morning 'threshold training' group on Tuesday and Thursday mornings: 7-8am at Regents Park.

Start racing early March with a few tasters such as Eastway. Late April/May start at Crystal Palace hang on for dear life for as may laps as possible. Once both his VO2 max and Lactate Threshold respectively had been raised sufficiently his target was Hillingdon where it was time to race for points on a Tuesday night; in addition, Jack began racing on thursdays at Eastway for training... Its July and Jack's 3rd Cat goal has been realised. The next move is to return to Palace for more suffering but with sufficient fitness not to get dropped and start acquiring points as a 3rd cat. :D

Unfortunately Ajay I have a date with destiny, Italy-Germany semi final, so won't be racing this week. Bon chance!

Yes don't worry I'll be there, looking forward to it, AJ has sold Hillingdon to me, so I'll give it a blast.

Hopefully it shouldn't be such a physical killer like palace!

Feeling good after Saturdays CR.

Come on lets have some more Agreeables in the peloton

Super, be patient today! Don't initiate or get into a breakaway unless (a) it features the main players or (b) its big enough group. Your simply not you're strong enough yet. Wait till at least the final third of the race before you start to burn 'matches'. Good luck dude!

"Smoggie" or "Smogmonster" is a term of abuse used by other natives of the northeast when refering to inhabitants of Teeside, or more specifically, Middlesbrough. It refers to the historical concentration of (pollution generating) heavy industry such as steel making and chemical production in the area. Middlesbrough only exists as anything other than a small village due to its proximity to coal and iron ore deposits.

Teesiders have nullified the abusive power of the term somewhat by adopting it as a tongue-in-cheek self reference.

The term has also lost a lot of its power as much of the heavy industry has either cleaned up its act or closed down. The air quality there regularly beats that of other towns and cities in the northeast and is considerably better than that encountered in central London.

Ajay it sounds like you're already off on a lone breakaway by yourself. As Mike just said Jack 'the smilling smoggie' ain't going, so you're possibly on your LLLL's tonight son!. I've told Paul from Islington Cycling Club to help you out tonight! Take care Soups!!
