Hertfordshire Wheelers 10

Postby Jon H » Wed Jul 05, 2006 10:32 pm

A couple of weeks ago Richard reported on his trip to Hertfordshire to ride the F20/10 course in an attempt to go sub 21 before the silly season of 100's commenced. On that occasion the weather was not kind and it was a slow windy night. Well tonight was my turn, and it turned out to be a float night. Warm temperatures, high humidity and low winds are the holy grail for producing fast times, and when that happens for an event on a fast course then loads of PBs are produced.

So, in brief; pain, pain, pain, brief respite at the turn, more pain, finish.

20:51. New PB by over a minute. :D :D :D

well done Jon! very good time, it converts to 28.8mph! My sprint speed in the last palace race, which you kept up for almost 21 minutes! A quick calculation shows you would have done the tour prologue in 9min 12sec , which would be better than the last few times for the pros.

To put my ride into context, it was a very fast night. The winner did 18:55, the top 10 all got under 20 minutes, I was 34th out of about 80 riders, and well over half the field did PB's.

Anyway, the club records at the standard distances for men are:

10 20:25
25 51:45
50 1:51:24
100 3:52:41

And the team records are:

10 1:04:46
25 2:47:30
50 5:55:22
100 12:28:57

Well done Jon-Fantastic, how many pbs is that for this year?
I`ve never had a float day in an actual race, only in training, I did a short 19 around RP and I felt like I wasn`t even trying, I`m usually fighting the bike at the weekends though. Could do with a float day on Sat pm, as Hutch will be starting 3mins behind.
Let you know what happens.
