Big thanks to all who came and help - everything went fine.

Before the race we had time to ride the course with Monty's helmet cam, which should be interesting to view.

Seems I'm more knackered this morning than if I'd raced - must have been the standing in the sun all afternoon! (or the couple of post-duties beers).

Yes indeed a great night Sylv. The shame of it, the only time I get to see loads of cool looking mountain bikes in the same place is when I occassionally pop into the Evan's Waterloo branch...I definitely gotta give mountain biking a go next year. Cheers as well for the sandwich and beer :D

Echo that Sylv - a really enjoyable event - a lot busier than the last time I raced there - is this because it's the last year of eastway or has it been that busy for the last couple of seasons?

What was really impressive was the amount of female riders. I'm used to seeing the odd token female turn up at the road races but there must have been about 20 girls racing last night.

Yes it's very busy this year. 140 people for our round in 2005, 180 last night. 15 women, I think quite a few were new as we had noticed previously that there weren't as many as previous years.

Huw, you are still a Masters aren't you (under 40)? The team race is on 2nd August, we could have a first team of Huw/Richard/Simon/myself. And maybe a second one (Grahame/Will/Aodan/Kevin/Elliot?).

Under 40? Are you mad?

I can't even remember being under 40, though results from eastway many years ago remind me that I once must have been!

I'm not over 50 though so What does that make me?

You'd be in the vets with me.

2 more and we could have a chance in the vets team race.

I thought you might be Huw but didn't want to risk offending!
I'll have a look at the rules I think you can enter a composite team. Can't think of another two Vet MTBers in ACC - well maybe we can convice Monty, he seemed keen to get his bike out of the shed yesterday.

Ooh, yes, Monty.

And maybe Alan if he's repaired by then?

I think that's what happened on Sunday Sylv

Materazzi: "Oi Zidane - I saw you in the vets at Eastway didn't I?"

Zidane: "I'm not having that from a g***** E***** mama's boy"

BOSH!

The rest is history

Zidane has spoken yesterday. Didn't say exactly what was said but it involved mother and sister. He walked away after the first shirt-pulling provocation and then M carried on with the insults (he was off camera by then) which were just too much for him.

Another thought - maybe we could get Toks to make his MTB debut at the team race? That would be cool. I could loan a bike.

Having said that, maybe a team of "Monty and the VCs" would be good?

Monty,
Huw,
Paul,
Me

Sounds pretty competitive as a Vets grouping (most other clubs only seem to have 1 or at most, 2, riders in vets)

Good point, hence the rethink of the potential "Zimmerframe racing" team.
