Club Run 15/7

Today started out well, went with the 18s and feeling good. Sort of went downhill after about 10 miles when I hit a sharp stone and punctured. The rest of the group was kind enough to stop and wait while I fixed it which was going fine up until I reinflated the tyre. Not wanting to hold everyone up for too long I thought I'd try my CO2 inflator rather than the mini pump, but being a bit ham-fisted I over inflated it bit. Tried to let out a bit of air and it went bang splitting the tyre!:(

I thanked and waved off the rest, and phoned for the broomwagon. Managed to fit a bit of cardboard in the tyre as a boot, repair the original puncture and slowly rolled back to meet my lift coming the other way.

All in a bit of a pain as the sun was starting to come out and would have made for a good ride.

Hope everyone else got round in one piece and thanks again for waiting.

Andrew.

I think that today really showed how we are moving forward on the club runs and as a club. We had about 60-70 people out today more if you count those who met us at the cafe, we had a sizeable group with Paul Tunnel to go to Brighton, a training group, a 20mph group that attracted a good number led by Ian M, a 18mph group led out by Chris and a small group of 17's.

There was a time when the bulk of the run was made up the 17mph-ers but down to the good work of Ian M and Chris S, delivering a consistent 'as it sez on the tin' rides they have inspired people to up their pace and move up confident that the groups are well led and consistent. 8)

From my point of view it was a piece of cake to organise as everybody knew what they wanted to do and it happened. :D

A big thanks to Paul, Ian and Chris!!
