ACC team for Hillingdon 18/07/06

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

ACC team for Hillingdon 18/07/06

Hi guys,

Who's up for this?
I know George said he's gonna be there, but is there anyone else who fancies a gentle intro into road racing? It only cost £12 if it's your first time.

Anyway, meet at Victoria by the taxi rank at the front of the station @ 5.50pm.

It's gonna be a hot one so take lots of water :)

Cheers,
Matthew

Hi George,

I'm riding from South Ken/Knightsbridge.
I don't think Patron Ajay is going to make it, so it could be just us, unless Kevin decides he's in.

Would it be easier for you to ride straight from Croydon rather than going to Victoria first?
If so, I could meet you at Hillingdon. What do you think?

Hi Kevin: where are you riding from to get to Hillingdon?

Cheers,
Matthew

It's very tempting ... nice weather and all. Really enjoyed last week. But racing Weds night too.

Heart says yes
Legs say no

Hmm maybe if I just sat at the back all the way and try grab two points in the sprint - and then take the train to East Croydon?

Then again if George and Kevin turn up I'm bound to be drawn into their wheel when they try to break away ...

I'm going to ride over from the Fulham road. The only thing putting me off is will have to get up super early to go into work to lock away my bike then head into town for training and back again for the bike, but it still sounds like a plan so more than likely I'll give it a go. will probally get the train back to croydon afterwards.

Sylv if it wasn't 4ths at Hillingdon I'd agree with you perhaps saving your legs. Recovery from a race is essentially determined by your fitness levels; and of course how active you were in the race...You'll be fine mate!! make sure you take food or a recovery drink with you for after the race. When you get home a cold water bath or ten/fifteen minute self massage - quads, calves and hamstrings - you'll be flying on wednesday!

Yeah the massage does really help on the following day to avoid that "wooden legs" feeling.

Thing I noticed is the older I get the more sleep I need - I can do with 9 hours now to be in good shape.

I went for a run at lunchtime yesterday which I hadn't done for a good two months, and had great legs riding home in the evening - go figure.

See you at 5.50 Mathew? Oh and I think you can add The Shadow to the roll call for tonight.

HI Sylv,

George is gonna make his own way there and I might do the same since I have to work over at Wandsworth today.
I'll meet you guys over @ Hillindon around 7pm.
Is Steve really coming tonight?
Hope so.

See you later chaps!!

Cheers,
Matthew

That's what he said from the car overtaking me this morning - but I might have misheard ...

Ok I'll make my own way there.
