Beastway team race Weds 2 August

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Beastway team race Weds 2 August

Postby Dr Frigo » Fri Jun 16, 2006 4:15 pm

Team of four needed for the final ever MTB race at Eastway - I'm thinking Team A (Masters) Richard, Simon, myself and (shhhht!) I can ask Joel to guest-star.

Is anyone else interested? A mixed team is possible.

Grahame, if you were still a Masters I would have asked you - we did won the class last year with the very same team!

Good. If you can make it, best would be to turn up on one of the normal races beforehand - they run evey Wednesday evening now until the night of the team race.

Races last approx. 1 hour and you can enter one of the different categories based on age and ability. Are you new to MTB as well as being new to the club?

There is more info here, but if you have any other questions just ask. http://www.beastway.com/series2006/index.html

Cheers

Yep, missed race #2 but planning to do the remainder. It?s fun!

I ride from Victoria at approx 5.45pm if you ever wanted to meet along the way. It's easy to get lost the first time.

Sorry Richard didn't see your post until now.

If you can make it next week, and can find yourself an Addiscombe jersey, you'll have the privilege to be supported (or heckled at) by a dozen or so of ACC marshalls along the course :D

Sylvain,
Do you or can you go past London Bridge station on your way to Beastway? Coming in from Gatwick I have to go to LB on an FCC train because Southern (which goes to Victoria) won't take my bike during rush hour.

I'm thinking of going tomorrow night, but don't know the way. Do you just turn up and race?

Yes just turn up, fill a form, pay your entry, affix your plate on your bike and race.

I ride through the Northern edge of London Bridge but could meet you outside LB station yes, say in front of Evans Cycles (near the river) at 6pm. Should take under 30 min to get to Eastway.

We ride back through LB too so you can catch a train afterwards.

Hope you can make it - please text me to confirm tomorrow 0791 7431157.

Excellent.

Looking at the train timetables I'll be at LB a bit early, I'll be waiting for you. Will indeed text you tomorrow to confirm.

Looking forward to it! Although it looks like it might be a bit hot...could be the first time I've drained an entire Camelbak in a 1 hour race!

Everything looks good for tonight - I'll be waiting outside London Bridge Evans at 6pm.

Something tells me that some time after 8pm I'm going to be asking myself what on earth possessed me to go MTB racing on the hottest July day for 95 years...
