Marmotte 2006

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Cheers Sylv

Tamar and I went up to the Pic Blanc and also to the Lake during our stay.
The Lake was beautiful, though I would have said it was more Lac Vert than Lac Blanc - it had a very rich colour from the minerals on the lake bed.
From Pic Blanc we had views all around - Mont Blanc was shrouded in cloud, but the views were still spectacular.
Then we fooled around in the snow - Tamar particularly enjoyed the snowball throwing - a high point (literally) of our trip.

Really? That walk was a bit of a trek, with a few other lakes and "gardioles" smaller ponds on the way up, had a dip in the lowest one. I think my sister was actually more like 8-9 at the time, the end of the walk was very rocky!

Do you have any photos?

Yeah, I took a few - will get them downloaded shortly.

Yeah, the walk was pretty rocky. We walked around a bit, but not that much as we took a telecabine to get around. Our legs were still a little sore to do loads of trekking !

Are we talking of the same Lac Blanc? The walk to mine started from a village called Névache, 10 miles North of Briançon.

Maybe you got to it from the other side of the mountain? There weren't any cable cars there at the time.

It's the same place but approached from different sides.
The route we took was nearer to where we staying - on the Alpe d'Huez side. It was also the easier option (with cable cars etc) which suited us fine.

I would probably like to try the hike up from Briancon on a future occassion.
