sportives - who's doing what?

Postby huw williams » Fri Jul 21, 2006 9:45 am

Has anyone signed up for any more sportives this year?

CWs coverage of the sportives will start after the tour and its inquest is over - we've already got Dragon Ride, Etape DuDales, Etape, Marmotte, GF Pinarello, Tour of Wessex written and ready to go.

Now I'm looking for anyone who can contribute some words from events from the remaining calendar.

I'm doing Baelach ne Baar next weekend (see this weeks CW, OUCH!) the two bike wales events in Swansea and Abergavenny, Spud Riley, Trans Cambrian and Autumn Epic. Anyone doing these or anything else?

Highly reccomended - The most local one is Highclere castle -
http://www.cyclegb.co.uk/southdowns.asp

A great introduction for any ACCers who want to try sportives without travelling to the far ends of the country or abroad - 115 miles, about 3,000 metres of climbing (similar amount to TOSH) there's also a team event on this one.

Sportives

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Sat Jul 22, 2006 3:31 pm

Ive signed up for the southern challenge ride, the 150 km route but haven't heard anything back from them yet. IMPORTANT.........will check the correct date as the cycle sport site lists the ride as Sat the 9th while the CTC site who are organising the event says the 10th, unless they are two separate rides but that would seem a bit odd. Would like to do the Ride of the falling leaves but they arent taking anymore advanced bookings but you can turn up on the day.
Missed the CR today as I did my bit for society yesterday and gave a pint of blood so didnt want to do anything to strenuous today and unlike some places they dont give you any back!

I'm going local.

I fancy doing TOSH at some point soon. Perhaps the offical one or an addiscombe led one.

I think the official one will be sold out by now but I was planning on doing another ACC one in a couple of weeks if we can get enough riders out - anyone else fancy it?
