I suspect there is an ironic gest here - pure cheese or what? , or else it is Marco's dad and he's trying to help him get fixed up. Or maybe, just maybe, there is a serious sociological point about the management of relationships in the media exposed, reality TV driven (side-swipe at big brother fans) down the toilet 21st century. But on balance it is probably just slightly funny/wierd trivia.
