4 up Time Trial

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Tricky call to make about whether tri-bars are the way to go in a 4-up on a technical/rolling course.

Certainly in a solo TT, a TT specific bike will always be faster than a road bike if it puts the rider in a good aero position and doesn't compromise their power output. Even on a rolling course most of the time is spent at 20mph+ where aerodynamics count for more than weight saving.

But, just sticking tri-bars on a road bike can sometimes make things worse not better; it will bring your arms closer in so they don't catch the wind, but it can also raise your shoulders and actually increase frontal area. It all depends on the rider and their position, bar height & reach etc.

The other thing to consider in a team TT is that for a large chunk of the time you will be sitting on a wheel (this is where Ajay starts paying attention), so will be sheltered anyway. Plus if you're not used to riding on tri-bars it may be safer to stay on the drops/hoods where you have more control.

To Addiscombe team we are intending to meet at Loxwood Village Hall for 12 on Saturday. Hope to do some last minute preparation, team talks, high fives and team hugging.

Cheers

Marek.....

It has only just dawned on me that an hour an a half on a bike with both Ajay and Toks is going to sound like one of those motivational speeches in Magnolia - plus the references to lactic acid.

Thankfully Dave K and I should balance this with a bit of stoicism. Should I take my Ipod?

Only if you're going to lend it to Ajay so that he can get back quicker once he's dropped 8)

What time is it all due to kick off? I`m considering riding over after my TT Saturday morning in Horsham. Has anyone thought we could have an extended club run over to Loxwood to see Ajay eat humble pie..... that`ll be a sight but no it would be good if there were Agreeables out to cheer on the boys, they`ll need it as its not a forgiving course!!

I'm out of this now due to injury but hopefully Gav's team has found a top flight replacement.

Good luck to all
