We helped tidying the clubroom (that included finishing the champ and cheese bites) and I left at 11.45. I thought you two had long gone as you'd said "bye" a while before that. I only saw Joel's message/text when I got home, tired and wet but happy just before midnight.

Indeed your speech was very good and made good use of the word "immense" in describing John and Bill's contribution to London cycling.

Did you guys hear that young Shaun Hurrell who won Experts overall beating the likes of S.Hambling D.Miller and M.Schier after jumping straight from Juniors got 2nd Brit at the MTB European Champs last weekend?

And hey- back in 2003 I almost beat Mike Jackson! :-)

Round 5 of the Southern XC series was held at Eastway on July 20

Graham Warby (Aston Hill MTBC) led from the start to win by 2 minutes. Peter Hawkins (Big Peaks.com) had been in second until Mike Jackson (CC Luton/Gary Fisher) and Sylvain Garde (Addiscombe.org) swept by. Jackson held a 25 second advantage for most of the race, but this came down when Garde put in two final laps that put him within 12 seconds at the close.

1 Graham Warby Aston Hill MTBC 01:11:40 , 6 laps
2 Mike Jackson CC Luton/Gary Fisher 01:13:41 , 6 laps
3 Sylvain Garde Addiscombe.org 01:13:53 , 6 laps

Marco you could have heard a pin drop when you spoke.
It's pretty unusual for it to be so quiet in there.

Sylvain did the video of you getting your prize come out OK?

[quote]I only saw one of them in the trees after the bridge climb? I think I might have been going too fast to see the other one!

One of them was in the new piece of singletrack (shallow grave) next to the gravel hill out at the back of the circuit, the other was facing you as you crested the hump at the start of the BMX track.

Edited multiple times for poor efforts at quoting Marco

Yes thanks Simon. I have about 200Mb of video including riding behind you on the course, and Joel should have the same. Half of them are sideways but I don't think I can rotate them! Will put them on cd.

Forgot to say Marco's leopard shorts that he used to wear got more than a mention from John!

This does make you think of the adage, "if you build it they will come". If you had the logistics and terrain (not to mention the time and dedication) for such a race series just outside of London, with the same chilled out-dot- hardcore atmosphere you could expect upwards of 200 people on a weekday evening! Obviously they're not making any profits (although they could, as £4000 prize money have been given back to riders throughout the series - that's excluding last night's prizes which were from the sponsors). Someone has to carry the torch, as John and Bill seemed to hint that time might have come for some new blood to take the relay.

Looks wicked! Isn't that Marco leading the pack in that photo of a Revolution race at the begining! Love the GoogleEarth sat shot.

And did you provide the Moab pics too Grahame?

I was thinking we could get mine and Joel's footage of last night, plus some of the best pics from us and Gra/Ell + LCS, stick them on a cd for those who want one?

A few of the photos are mine, including the Moab ones at the end.

Not sure, but it does look like Marco.

I'd buy a copy of that CD. You'd be welcome to my pictures to put on it. Could we get the lap from Monty's website as well?

I was thinking just between us, but why not if others might be interested, could put it up on lcs. Cost of a blank Cd eh?

I'll speak to Monty about the copyrights to his movie. I think Sid might have the file too actually.

Here's one I hadn't had the chance to process yet. It would fit in with the design of Tig's site!
