Westerham hill.......

Postby Nick » Mon Aug 07, 2006 2:50 pm

Went looking for westerham hill today as it is quite local to me and have never riden it knowingly, but didn't have enough left in my legs after climbing 3 hills before it.

I left my house in Orpington towards M25 through badgers mount, down Polhill towards Chevening then right onto Ovenden road then the following hills.......up and down each one.......

Sundridge Hill
Brasted Hill (Crawled up here at some points only 5 mph reading on speedo)
Hogtrough Hill

Only 40 miles covered but feels more like 80

Better luck tomorrow.

Prehaps I'll miss out Sundridge Hill and do westerham instead.

I used to ride up star hill about twice a week a few years ago on an mtb.

Brasted hill for some reason just killed me don't know why?

Trying to get some effort in before I attempt the TOSH later this month.

fancy going for a ride on Wednesday Nick? I'm sort of free all day so either morning or afternoon would be good for me.

Westerham Hill is really unpleasant because of the traffic: its an A road.
It's not very safe either as visibility is limited at the top.
It is used by HGVs a fair bit too.

I use Star Hill as recommended by Marco or the B2024; the next road west of Westerham Hill.

I like Clarks Lane (the B2024, I believe?) myself, both going up and down it (no braking), and there are some very nice views across to the Ashdown Forest from the top.
