SCCU 25

Postby richv » Fri Aug 18, 2006 9:17 pm

Some of you will know that each year there is a competition for the Rawson Shield which is awarded to the club with the most riders entering Southern Counties events.

As long as anyone can remember ACC have won this competition. This year with several of the TTers defecting to other teams and Bec having found a wide selection of riders we are lagging a long way behind.

In order to stand a chance of retaining the shield we need to have 20+ riders in the SCCU 25 which is on 10/9/06 (early morning I'm afraid). For most clubs this would be impossible but ...

It doesn't matter how quick you are, what bike you ride, whether you're a roadie or a trackie it's your entry that counts.

Entries on a ctt entry form (available from the ctt site) to R Marsh, 52 Monson Road, Redhill RH1 2EZ must be there by Tuesday 29th August (don't forget the Monday is a bank holiday). Entry fee £6.50.

I'm happy to give people lift(s) if it helps.

So come on then - who else is doing this? My entry is in and I am the clubs slowest TTer by a long chalk (1.14.06 is my best over 25). So - if coming last is what's putting you off - have no fear, Escargot Snoop is here!!

Allez Addiscombe!

At the last count of comments made on other parts of the forum we are up to 6 riders, so come on lets raise the stakes, go down fighting rather than a wimper. Its not a bad course for those of you who have been building up the courage to do a 25. This is the penultimate race on this course for this season, so its not too be missed!!! 8)

I had said that I would help with the marshalling on this one. On the other hand, it would be good if we could swamp this one and keep the shield. I must also consider that my aggregate times for 25, 50 and 100 miles this season is 8 hours 1 second, and I need to get rid of that second somewhere. Morally, what should I do?

My entry has just been posted, so that's 7 of us.

More required - I'm sure there are more people who have expressed an interest in doing a 25. I can name the guilty parties if required

Numbers are growing!! Replied to this to bounce it up again - come on folks - give G25/53 a go - try it - you might like it!!! Actually - if I'm anything to go by then you won't - but hey - no one said it'd be easy!!

Trust me - if I can get round - ANYONE CAN!!!!

My entry's gone in the post, but I shan't be able to ride unless someone agrees to take on my marshalling duties. So, if you don't fancy riding 25 miles at some ungodly hour on a Sunday morning, you can still free me up to do so - and at the same time help in the club's efforts to retain the Rawson Shield.

A beverage of your choice at the Beer Circus to any volunteers; two beverages if we win the Shield; and three if I manage a pb along the way. Now how fair is that?!

'I don't have a car' is no excuse. I can give lifts.

[quote]Apologies, would join in and post a slow time but am on taxi duty to the airport. Sorry.

Sounds perfect - the course is just up the road from Gatwick!
