1 Toks Adesenya Addiscombe CC :D
2 Kevin Knox Dulwich Paragon
3 Keith Whitewell Dulwich Paragon
4 Alan Flight GS Invicta
5 Jack Chisholm Addiscombe CC @ 30 secs :D
6 Matt Zietz Sutton CC/De Ver
7 George Roux Redhill CC
8 Fraser Wildman Downland Cycles
9 Will Hayter London Dynamo/Cyclefit
10 James Hughes Bec CC
11 Quentin Tring Brixton Cycles

Well done Toks, and Jack too, a good race and Toks's new strategy paid off last night as he got a small break going a few laps before the end and kept away from the main bunch to finish 30secs in front. The main bunch came altogether and jack won the sprint. I finished with this lot not too far from number 11 so I was happy as it was my first time to keep with the main bunch all the way throughout the race and have enough energy left at the end to try and sprint (speed at the very end upped to 28.5mph) but so did the others!. The race was 33 laps and run at an average speed of 23.5mph, which was kept pretty constant. No crashes this time as the Marshals tried out various methods to keep the E/1/2s separate and it seemed to work.

Thanks again Kieran, I'll try and give my own biased account of the nights efforts tomorrow...I just had a feeling you'd be alright yesterday. A steadyish start that gradually got faster. You've made it mate, welcome aboard. You're now in a privledged position of grabbing points at Hillingdon with the 4ths or continuining to master the pain at Palace. You Decide! :D ...how was it for you Simon - you looked like you enjoyed it

8) Well done DS ! Remember you get your entry fees refunded if you wind a bike race (true) and a new bike (false) from the ACC funds. Drop a line to Phil Nash and he'll post you a cheque.

Heard from Reuteurs that Toks was on EPO again though (EPistOlaria), meaning we'll get another spine-tingling account of his race soon ;-)

Fantastic stuff Toks.

Now you've got the taste of winning, it could become habit forming.

In a desperate attempt to boost my rather fast disappearing racing fitness I've been logging on to various cycling websites in search of psycho babble to motivate me through the rest of the season. I found a few little gems but none better than these which I found when I cheekily logged on to the Dulwich Paragon website... Here's what some of the racers on their forum had to say about my race win back on July 4th :D :D

...some great teamwork from the army of Dulwich riders made for a superb race with us taking 2nd and 3rd places. It was so close to a win I can't believe we didn't get it! Next time....

...Yes... we should have had him....

...It seems like what we should have been doing with two teammates and one competitor in a break is basically force the other guy [me] to chase continually while we take turns at resting on his [my] wheel (all this of course once we realize we are going to reach the finish ahead of the bunch and don't need to cooperate any more). ie, we should have been taking turns to attack him [little old me again] while the previous attacker recovers on his wheel. Eventually one of us (or both...) should get away.

We didn't really work things out like that, so while it's great to get any result at palace, it still feels a bit like the one that got away...
:D :D

Oh dear, have you lost your zip?

I have not been going too well recently Toks, got dropped at the weekend in the SERRL race, will try and up the training intensity a bit this week and will have another crack next weekend.

Cheers

Marek....
