What another great day.

Over 60 riders, 4 groups, a little sunshine, a little cloud and plenty of fun.

Again opted for the easier 17 group, but it is not that easy. Had a nice run through the Surrey countryside, Group leader "Tim" wanted to go for the slightly longer more scenic route......so no turn off into Partridge.

The call was "Straight On" so as good little domestics we cycled forth ONLY to be taken on Magical Tim tour.....some very narrow lanes, bits of gravel & plenty of Horse excrement (missed by most riders). However Tim had full control of the situation and with his great leadership skills and local? knowledge we were soon back on track to Charlwood Cafe and tea. A great bunch of riders with me, I must admit I had verbal diarrhoea  for most of the ride and do apoligise to those whos ears I had chewed off  !.

At the cafe alot of riders were on for a BoxHill trip and we set off in 2 groups just to save the inconvience to other road users. What a lovely ride managing to avoid the rain, just the odd damp road to show that it had rained. I rode up boxhill quite strong (For me anyway), as those of you that know me I am built for rolling roads and downhill NOT climbing. Thats why I love the ride from Boxhill back to Coulsdon. I felt very strong and Pushed very hard after the Swingers estate!! where I might add that I had a call of "Go on Darling, you can do it, looking lovely in those shorts  " by two young Ladies. I had the last laugh as I knew another 15+ riders were to follow :D What would they say now......

Great ride for me with a total 0f 79.7 miles and an average of 18.8mph can't be too bad for an over weight mid thirties guy  .

Sorry Sean another one to report getting home dry from the CR.
Since getting my new bike I?ve neglected my fixed a bit so decided to take it out on a CR for the first time. Joined Monty?s 17s which also did the Rusper extension. Things went pleasingly well despite having to launch myself at some of the inclines, particularly the triple climb, to keep on top of the gear as much as possible. The worst part was the swooping descent on the extension which was rather buttock bashing without a freewheel , and I had to ride the brake quite a bit.
Redhill return as I?d never have got up Boxhill. Only slight embarrassment when stopping at the exit from the estate I failed to de-cleat in time keeling over sideways none to delicately . I could lie and say my pedals are tighter than my other bike, but I expect it was just a bit of leg/brain tiredness, thanks everyone for not laughing out loud. Followed Alan back from Purley as he had a route through the back streets which meant ?stepping? the climb back up to Selsdon.
Another enjoyable CR although it?s a lot more tiring when you can?t stop pedalling ? slept like a baby after lunch!
