He looks familiar - cheating reaches new heights

Word reaches us today of a discovery that erstwhile 'Next Eddy Merckx' candidate Franck Vandenbrooke, now thought to be missing because of years of failing to live up to his potential is not in fact missing at all.

It's been disclosed that the (not so) great one has been masquerading in the Italian amateur divisions and racing on a licence which features a picture of Tom Boonen on it. Presumably winning miniscule amounts of Euros by beating non-drugged club racers.

You couldn't make this stuff up could you? We've seen pics of FVDB racing as well as the licence which does indeed feature a picture of TB on it and is signed by an official of the Italian Federation.

What next - If your racing at The Palace on Tuesday check out the winner if he gets away for a solo break - it could be Floyd Landis racing with a picture of Tim Harris on his licence!

Didn't FVdB do a column for CS for a while - actually perhaps one of the other mags?

There was a bloke in full Phonak kit at the Palace the other week. I don't think it was Floyd though, he didn't have a ginger goatee and Elvis shades.

I'm not sure how he did in the race but I remember at the time thinking - this guy must be having a laugh!
