ToSH 26/08/06 Update - 24 hours to go

Postby huw williams » Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:30 am

All weather forecast sites say we have a clear day with light winds on Saturday - by far the best day of the weekend so everything looks promising.

Start: Arrive by 9.00 for maps

9.15 start - 1 single group (17-18mph no splitting the group please) on the outrun to Dorking and the first climb at Coldharbour - after that? Good luck!

Fast group? - Depends who's out and what mood they're in. If Marek's out prepare to go fast and get lost at least twice!
Moderately fast group? - stay with me
Steady group? - stay with Amy

Widely different climbing abilities will mean big splits - don't panic. Either work with other riders prepared to wait at the top of climbs, use one of the short cuts to re-group or ride solo at your own pace. DON'T BLOW UP BY GOING TOO FAST TOO EARLY. You're meant to have an enjoyable experience, even going steadily around this route will be a very hard ride.

Lunch at Shere around 11.30 - 12.00

Supper at Beer Circus 8pm

Any questions? This thread up until 6pm this evening is your last chance

See you there - H

depends largely on how fast certain groups go, but I'd estimate about 4pm for someone of your abilities - with a proper lunch stop of course

Am doing a deluxe fish pie and dusting off the finest my wine cellar has to offer for the visit of the Dutch delegation tomorrow - but would much rather be TOSHing.

Good luck to everyone - have a great day. I look forward to the reports...

pants! lots of feckin rain! I hate rain. I even put new tyres on and cleaned my bike! Must be getting soft one time the rain would not put an end to my training rides. Oh well maybe next week?

Frustrating Kev - I know. Don't worry, we'll re-schedule it for autumn when the weather is hot!
