Last night of Palace 29AUG2006

Postby kieran » Tue Aug 29, 2006 10:13 pm

Well, the last night of Palace saw what must have been the biggest turn out for ACC (5 (simon, adam, kevin, toks and myself) racing and some great supporters), although the field was smaller than other nights. A quick warm up around the circuit showed that parts hadn't dried out from the earlier rain, the bottom left as you come down the hill looked slippy, and was, as a number of riders tried their hand at cyclo-cross throughout the race. Due to the wet the pace wasn't as high as other nights, it averaged around 22.4 mph (just over a mile per hour slower than normal), but it still wasn't easy as we had to take it easy at the corners meant a lot of accelerating afterwards. The race ended in a bunch sprint but don't know any placing yet, all I know is that I got boxed in coming around the bend so lost my momentum. Anyway a good ride and a nice end to Palace for this year. Already looing forward to next year! :D

Well done for sticking with it Keiran. After 'fish-tailing' twice on that slippery left hand bend I just couldn't take the risk anymore and pulled out. With two important weddings coming up at the weekend and falling on monday I think the girlfriend would've killed me if I did even more significant damage. The quest for 2nd cat continues to run into september now. Shame, I was feeling really strong to. :(

Those results are wrong!!!

I definately finished ahead of simon, so i must have been 12th at least!?!?

Still the race was definately easier than last week, if not a little more risky on the wet bits! I lost count of the amount of times i nearly crashed, but i made it to the finish in one piece. And contrary to LCS and BC i was in the bunch!!!

Any more photo's nick? Im desperately in search of a decent photo to prove to some of my doubting friends and collegues how much effort i have to put in in these bloody races! Apart from the fact im also very vain, and just want to see what i look like on a bike!

Cheers,

Adam

Im not so sure why i look like george hincapie!?

Im a lot shorter than he is for a start, my face is fatter, erm, im sure there must be another pro i look more like!?

Not that hincapie is a bad option to look like, dont get me wrong, but if i wore a rainbow jersey would i look like Boonen!?
