Club hill-climb competition

Postby Jon H » Fri Sep 01, 2006 3:06 pm

Whether you?re a Roadie, Tester, MTB?er, Club-runner or Sportiver, it?s almost time to unite and rise up against the common enemy. No, I?m not talking about London Dynamo, I mean gravity.

A while ago there was some discussion on the forum about holding a club hill-climb competition. Well, it?s been organised, the date is booked, the hill is there, all that?s required now are some riders prepared to let their legs do the talking to settle those scores.

The venue is Ranmore Common Road, near Westhumble. It?s a kilometre or so long and gains about 100m height, so it?s testing but not extreme.

The date is Saturday 30th September, at 12 noon, which should tie in nicely with the club-run.

Some of the skinny folk out there will be thinking they?ve got this sewn up already, but if your figure is more supersize than supermodel all is not lost. There will also be a handicap award on a cunning but as yet undisclosed basis specially devised by me.

Entry fee will be £1 payable on the day. If you want to ride PM or Email me.

Half a dozen takers so far, roll-up roll-up for some end of season fun.

Contrary to Andrew's suggestion, the handicap will not involve rucksacks full of rocks, but may involve some bathroom scales (or some honesty).

Still only half a dozen or so people have said they'll ride.

If I don't get a flurry of interest over this weekend I might be tempted to cancel it and drink the prizes myself.

Where have all the grimpeurs gone? There seemed a lot more interest earlier in the year.

Don't worry you won't be last :) .

Unfortunatley I've got to be up in Sheffield next Sat otherwise I'd definitely make it...To bring up the numbers Jon why don't you just lead the 'clun run' over to Ranmore and take things from there. :D

I'll probably be up for it.
I don't know where it is, but I'm hoping that some people off the CR will deviate home that way.

Hill climb on 30th sept

Postby Tim Coales » Sat Sep 23, 2006 8:06 pm

Okay, I was going to offer to help, but I reckon I'll have ago. It's customary for there to be a prize for the slowest rider, so I'm sure I'll win that, unless of course the handicap for my massive 13 stone messes it up!

Jon

We might be able to drum up some more contenders at the club run next Sat, I'll announce it at CSS. (I wish I saw this before today as I would have made an announcement at the cafe)
