Ride of the Falling leaves - 1 October

Postby Alan M » Wed Sep 13, 2006 4:18 pm

Are you ready for the Ride of the Falling Leaves...? on Sunday 1st October starting from Herne Hill Velodrome (the start will be staggered so you can start any time between 9am and 10am). But I suggest a mass ACC start on the velodrome at around 9.15 - bettter to start early and get the best of the club house relaxation on the return - last year the bar was open as well!.

Two rides will be fully signposted one 110km (70 miles) the other 80km (50 miles). Both will be quite testing routes. Certificates, pasta, food and drink for all participants - finishing at the Dulwich Sports Club , which is the velodrome's southerly neighbour and has a splendid club house.

Go to the Dulwich Paragon website at http://www.dulwichparagon.com/ and click on the word rider, not the photo as requested and you get a registration form. £15 for entry on the line and £12 using paypal in advance.

We (about 12 of us) did this ride last year and all enjoyed the experience with a good and visible showing of ACC jerseys at a premium South London Event.

Hope to see you there

Alan

I have entered and I agree with Alan it would be good to see a large ACC entry again this year.

Just registered, missed this last year as I was away so looking forward to it. My sportive debut (if it counts as one). Registered for the longer ride which I hope I won't regret.

We can use Ranmore for practice the day before on the Addiscombe Hill Climb Comp. :D

I've just registered for the long one. It'll make a nice change not to have to get up at 5am and drive for a couple of hours either side of the ride!

As I recall from last year you may be able to decide long or short out on the ride.

I was half banking on this and re-evaluating at the "wimps turn here" sign depending how knackered I am.

Just signed up for this one - the long route (so help me God).

It's about time I started taking on some longer rides and this looks like a good way of dipping a metaphorical toe in the water.

See you all there.

Alastair

PS I might have to dip into the funds for a new ACC jersey to reinforce our presence :D
