ACC race

Would like to take the opportunity to once again say a big thanks to Toks for organising the event. Got there early and saw some of the races. One of the riders had a pretty impressive handle bar mustache (a rare sight in the modern peloton) which contray to accepted wisdom didnt seem to affect his arodynamics as he finished in the lead group. But on to the main event of the day........
My first road race. The B group started off at steady pace but soon sped up. I managed to hang on for about three quaters of the race, but the elastic was stretching more and more, made up a bit of ground on the inclines but finally it snapped and I was on my own, but was determined to finish and not abandon.
Thanks for the push (or two) Paul T.
Lessons learned. Need to up my game...... A lot.

It would be good if we could find a way to put people's names as subtitles on the photos

if you'd like to post a list of pic numbers / names then adding the captions is not a problem.

That was not least because I myself don't know everyone!

But to start with the A-race:

5143 Marek / Aodan / ? / Paul H / Simon / Tim
5066 Sylvain / Aodan / Kieran / ? / Marek

[quote]My wife was nice enough to take some pics. They can be found here and when I've recovered I'll put them somewhere where you get a bigger preview.
Excellent pics John. Tell your wife she did a great job :D

Can i add my appreciation to the others, a big thanks to Toks, Huw, Joyce, Tim and everybody else who was involved in organising a great afternoons entertainment.

It was my first visit to eastway and it seems such shame its highly likely to have been my last.

..gotta say I'm insanely jealous an gutted i couldn't make this years race....family emergency forced me out at the last min,

But its really fantastic to hear so many numbers turned out, in both the begginers and the 2,3,4th cats. Would have been great to be a part of a day where ACC's of all abilities took to the track, an experienced this.

Very well done to Marek, another fine race...didnt expect any diff to be honest, esp judging by your form on last few club runs. Also I know Sylvain, kieran, Tim, Aodan and co. would def have made the race Very interesting.
Great report Andrew, real glad to read that being it your first race, and also to all the others that gave it a go. Eastway was my first race back in march, so if ur spirits took to it def feel free to give it ago at one of the other tracks around.

Dunno how I would have fared against the competition but I did put in an extra few sessions in prep for this race, an with the fact I'd raced there 3x already, this would help a little in positioning an judgement, felt pretty good as well.

Super well done to Toks, delivered as promised...top man!

Those photos are really good and varied John, shame the light was so poor that day.

Looks like it was a fantastic event. It's great that we can get so many people out racing. Congrats to everyone involved.

And don't forget more two-wheeled fun can be had (and outstanding scores can be settled) down at the ACC track champs this Sunday (see Rich V's post).

Get yourself down to Herne Hill for the training session Saturday morning to refresh your memories/find out what a track bike is like and then bring on the action Sunday pm.

A word of warning about the morning training session, last saturday I was down at HH, not for the track though, and the morning session never got going as the bit of the track in the shadow of the trees (on your left if facing across the track with the stand behind you) didn't dry out in time, even though it was lovely and sunny down there ( I was lying on a bench sunning myself whilst my son did the MTB session). Later in the day, around 1-2pm, tracking racing did take place so the championships should be ok. So if it rains Friday night and is cloudy Saturday I would be surprised if the training session takes place.
