Found out this morning riding into work they dont do as they say on the tin! Had a punture and the piece of glass wasn't that big. Does anybody know of any tyres that do what it says on the tin?

100% agree they are rubbish...ok for the front maybe but cut up like crazy on the back imho...

...I have had much better luck with the new-ish Specialized All Condition Armadillo Elite Tyre...although I did just have a puncture with one where a stange pin type thing went all the way through...

I think essentially nobody has developed a light puncture proof road tyre despite what anybody may claim or say...maybe the Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tyre would do the job but would probably feel like a tractor tyre!!!

I used them on my commuter for a while, but they soon cut up on the back. I think that conti 3000s are pretty good, they are good for racing and for general riding in my opinion.

Isn`t it funny, I`ve used Gatorskins for two winters without any trouble. I`d thoroughly recommend them. But perhaps I`ve just been lucky. Also use the All Seasons for the summer training bike. No problems. Saying that will probably have a puncture today. Good luck with the Specialised.

I had some Gatorskins for a few weeks but likewise got a puncture or two, so took them off.

My regular tyre is now the 4 Seasons. Other than an unavoidable puncture a few weeks ago (when I accidentally rode through some junk left on the roads by the binmen and got an instant flat from a piece of metal) I haven't had a puncture for maybe 5 or 6 months.

They're nice and fast too, although a little on the expensive side.

Caveat: I take no responsibility if you buy some and then get loads of punctures

Second that. Persisted with Armadillos for two or three winters but still got (more than) my share of punctures. Am now on Bonty Race Lites - so far, so good. They got me through the Falling Leaves unscathed, which is a recommendation in itself.

Just to clarify I am talking about the new Armadillo Elite not the older model...I believe the puncture resistance is better in the new model.

And fit a compact chainset with a 28 on the back so that you can get the bliming thing to move.

Generally a good tyre is a new tyre but...

Michelin Axial carbons - always seem to sell 'em in GBs xmas sale and I always buy a pair for the remainser of the winter/reliability trials etc and the end of the next winter.

You can also get them in 25c whch if you don't mind the extra weight is about the most cmfortable ride in the world and you couldn't puncture them with a hacksaw and a load of attutude.
