seriously though, the name that I often hear is Mike Ives at the league of vetran cyclist - I gather that he is 60+ and very competitive - probably contactable by googling the organisation and getting in touch with their secretary. Of course, our own Toks is a vet and highly photogenic!
All very interesting stuff - what other gems are lying around? It would be nice to know more of the club's history and past achievements of individuals etc. But problem for this request is that he also specified verterans, does Sylvian qualify still ?
If this guy is going to do his piece justice then I think it sounds like he wants Vets still riding. I would have thought that Malcolm Elliott or Sean Yates would be the ultimate in terms of representatives from the cycling community that still race to a very high level despite their age.

Yeah I second that Marek, Plowman Cravens Malcolm Elliot would definitely be the one to go for from the UK Road Racing world. He could also get in touch with The league Of Veteran cyclists
well, I have a friend who does duathlons and recently represented GB in his age group (40-44) in the 2006 ETU duathlon championships in Rimini, Italy, this month. An amateur through and through as he only took the sport up in the last year or so.
From his club (Crystal Palace Triathletes) website:
"Andy McRobbie & Ron Yee finished the ETU European Duathlon Championship course in Rimini on Saturday. Ron came off his bike at the first roundabout and damaged his saddle post. He managed nearly 7km cycling like a clown before getting a new one at the aid station! They both had a great time and really enjoyed the whole experience."
