Eastway - one more time then gone forever

Postby huw williams » Thu Sep 28, 2006 2:12 pm

For all those of you who loved the ACC club road race at Eastway last week, and all those of you who have enjoyed racing there over the past couple of decades - you night want to check this out.

A grand finale on October 21.

The day will feature a morning of road racing followed by the very last Beastway in the afternoon. The morning road session offers racing for senior men, women, juniors and youth riders, and in the afternoon there are cross country mountian bike with races for Under 12s, Youth & all seniors/juniors.

It promises to be a very emotional day with fantastic racing and a proper send-off planned. In a perfect world we'd get a load of ACC entries in the road races in the morning, then we could hang out and watch Sylvain, Aoiden and co kick arse in the dirt in the afternoon (with a few light beverages of course). What do you say guys. I'm entered, any other takers?

Yes I'll be there. It'll be my last race of the season and it would be nice to win. If we can get at least five of us maybe we can come up with a plan. Marek are you coming?

I've entered both races.

This looks like it's going to be a big event.

Judging by the most recent line-up at Eastway (23/09), I'd say chances of a win are slim to none if these guys turn up to say goodbye to the venue where many have made their first racing steps. Mind you, that was a cyclo-cross race, and on the Sunday 22nd there is a round of the cx London League too, so people might hold on for that. Still, the Eastway finale is sponsored by Evans, and I bet that a few of its top riders will be there, including British cx/mtb champ Jody Crawforth. Not sure what cat they all are on the road, so there might still be hope for the 3/4 race!

1 Jody Crawforth Evans RT @ 59.05
2 Matt Holmes Arctic/ Shorter Rochford @ 29 secs
3 Duncan Jamieson Felt Racing @ 1.08
4 Jamie Newall Evans RT @ 1.20
5 Dan Duguid Sigma RT @ 1.44
6 Nathan Miller Ipswich BC @ 2.34
7 Stuart McGhee Evans RT @ 2.45
8 Mick Bell London Fire Brigade (Vet) @ 2.58
9 Mike Jackson Trek UK
10 David Miller Api/Metrow Foods @ 3.00
11 Ben Lockwood GS Invicta @ 4.04
12 Andrew Griffiths Glendene/Biketrax (Jun) @ 4.21
13 Gavin Rumbles Trek UK @ 4.42
14 Alex Paton VC Deal/Hammonds/Active (Jun) @ 5.39
15 Nick Welch GS Invicta (Vet) @ 6.95
16 Phil Watkins PM (Vet) @ 7.11

Don't worry Sylv - They'll all be in the E/1/2 race.

Toks - I was looking forward to watching you in the E/1/2 race at that event. Any chance of that final point before then?

There is a post about this in the racing forum here for those who hadn't seen it: http://www.addiscombe.org/members/phpBB ... php?t=3021

Let's also make this the "bouquet final" of the Addiscombe racing year which has been one of the greatest so far.

We could have upwards of 20 people in the road races, and 10 in the mountain bike. Some of who could well win in their category, and work as a team.

The media should be there and with our flash yellow kit we could have the most noticeable club representation.

Its looking good so far for Marek. None of those non ACC names should be a cause for concern except for Rob Jeffroy's :D

Don't worry Marek you'll have your own personal support crew there for your third win of the season! :) :) :)

PS this John fella sounds very strong, can't we get him to join up with Huw and Sylv as a highly paid domestique :)

I think the BC no points thing is true, at Dunsfold aerodrome today Paul and I were speaking to one of the Dulwich riders and thats what he has heard as well, as he too is points hunting (4th to 3rd - needs 2 points). By the way the race tody was a let down for me literally as I punctured in the first lap, luckily I was alowed to join back in but could not contest for points

On second thoughts from LCS:

The race organiser has reminded riders that this is a National B event with 40 points on offer for a win ˆ an ideal boost to the late season points tally ˆ Though you will have to get ahead of Tony to win them all!

seems to say otherwise - a bit of confusion around maybe. So MArek best bet is to act as if points on offer - damn means I'll have to do a bit of training this week.
