Although it doesn't look like funds will be available for a new bike for me just yet, maybe sometime next year, I have been looking at pretty much all the bikes out there for some time, and I seem to have come to a conclusion that at the end of the day it all comes down to aesthetics.
One frame may get a slightly better write up than another, or someone will say you should go for so and so frame, but when you think that at the top end of the market, nearly all the manufacturers mentioned so far have their bikes ridden by a pro team. So to the likes of us mere mortals, the slight differences from one frame to another would probably not be noticeable or relevant.
Decisions Decisions:
Groupsets - quite easy, usually 2 to choose from, although I know Alan you are looking at the SRAM kit - very nice.
Finishing kit - all much of a muchness - doesn't get noticed anyway.
Wheels - Generally the more you pay the more you get. Again at the top end, all should be good. Quite a tough one this, I'm still undecided. Weight, strength, carbon, deep section etc etc. This is probably a tougher decision than choosing a frame
So which frame?
Look Colnago Time Orca Specialized Cervelo Cannondale Giant Bianchi Seven Trek, the list goes on, and undoubtedly all very good frames.
Not mentioned yet - Ridley and Argon 18 - take a look.
Probably a lot more will be said endorsing every frame but I bet you 50p you go for the one you think looks the best!
As for me - Pinarello Paris Illes Balears -
Now that is the dogs dangleys
Good luck, Steve
