Well I think Graham has summed it up for me - no I don't want this to take over my life. It has to be a nice distraction rather than the reason for being, although I know some among you will disagree.
So before you all get too bored, yes I have opted for that combination of status and utility, a Colnago C50. Rohan at Dauphin this afternoon did a good job "it ticks all your boxes Alan" and he spent about an hour an half talking and measuring, so I left a deposit on the most understated but I think nicest frame detail. The rest of the spec is still under discussion so I may yet need further advice. But of course, thanks for all your contributions - I have enjoyed them greatly and now I will look forward to enjoying the ride.
