A great ride today. Went out with the 18/19 group at a decent pace, we didnt do the through and off but set out on an extended, missed a few turns scenic route via Crawley extended run sort of thing and had a decent go at the sprint. After refreshments got caught in the loo queue so by time I was clipped in and ready for the off was on my jack jones with some catching up to do. An ideal opportunity, I thought. to put my new elaborate training regime into action, which is basicaly to try and stop daydreaming so much whilst riding and to pedal faster, (a lot faster in fact). I managed to catch the main group and for some reason, someone must have spiked my tea, was in a fighting mood and the ol' pins felt good so attacked off the front a few times but began to suffer a bit on the Merstam drag but dug in. A good day out was had by all.
Went out Sunday for a hilly one. Winterfold, Combe Bottom, Box Hill a lot of riders out including plenty of ACCers

Paul it must have been dark when you got home!
Sunday was real good day out on the bike, i think our group did about 70k and a load of cake and stuff, Saturday we did a longish hilly ride out thru Nutfield/Smallfield/Turners hill/Ardingly/Sharpthorne/East Grinstead about 100k and about 2100m climbing.
You looked happy as we passed you.

toks,

good point i didn't think about that im putting in the same effort...so mabye not when im by myself, just ride nomral...but on the clubruns where i have a certain speed to keep up to,if i make it a lil heavier and a bit harder to keep up, won't it make me that lil bit stronger?

dont worry i won't realy use a rucksack or a plastic bag as a parachute...just my winter bike and a couple water bottles..

cheers,
stu

No probs mate! I remember when I first got my road bike more than three years ago, I was absolutely obsessed with trying to ride at 20mph. On my work commutes I'd absolutely kill myself just to try and maintain 20mph on the flat with my jeans, a jacket and my rucksack on. Then on the weekend, in my cycling gear I'd desperately try and hold 21/22mph on the flat for as long as possible. I was probably riding at roughly the same power output/intensity in each case. So why unnecessarily weigh yourself down especially seeing as strength is not the determining factor when it comes to Endurance Cycling. Take care Dude
