[quote]Battle of the Bikes + On Yer Bike…
Obree and Boardman are in every way at the opposite ends of the spectrum… Obree's eccentric character takes him out of any catergory"
"Obree lives with his instinct, his feeling, which dictates his way of life…"
Disc One: Contains two unique films and an exclusive interview. The first film Battle of the Bikes, compares Graeme Obree, who built his own bike out of washing machine parts and rode it in his own unique crouched position to became the World Hour Record holder, and his great rival from the Wirral, the '92 Olympic Pursuit Champion Chris Boardman, who achieved his first World Hour record six days after Obree. Inspired by cycling journalist Adam Glasser, this film remains to this day, an utterly fascinating record of man and machine competing head to head.
Disc Two: The second disc contains the film On Yer Bike, an intimate portrait of Obree from an amateur cyclist to World Hour Record holder, World Champion and international cycling star. We also have the intriguing story of the banning by the UCI of his unique riding position and his most famous creation, 'Old Faithful'.
Next is an exclusive interview filmed at Herne Hill with former British national coach Doug Dailey, who was trackside at Boardman and Obree's biggest victories. He gives us a unique insight into their individual characters and talks about their special rivalry.
BONUS DISC: Top cycling photographer Phil O'Connor tells us about that famous Hour Record at Hamar. The bonus disc also contains unique archive film footage and interviews, including:
• Phil O'Connor interview
• Graeme Obree's British Hour Record at Herne Hill, May 1993
• Graeme Obree's 50 mile Record, RTTC Championships, June 1993
• Obree vs Collinelli in 4000m Pursuit Final, Manchester 1995
• Graeme Obree talks about the feature film based on his life The Flying Scotsman, 2006.
Sylv - I've got The Escape Artist but you're welcome to borrow The Flying Scotsman. Do you want me to bring it to the dinner?
