[quote]Tok does this mean your training / racing tips are now closely guarded secrets
No way Rich, i'm determined to demystify and deseminate as much info as I can :) [quote]toks, does this mean you get paid to ride or anything? or just the free kit an servicing?
 A big Fat NO to the first part and mostly Yes to the second part of your question...Keep going Stu and there maybe a chance that someone will pay you to ride for them in the future :) [quote]Personally I'm glad you lot are racing for someone else as I wont have to feel guilty when I sit on your wheels and come round at the end.
Excellent Paul, you gotta do what ya gotta do!!. However, with that ever rising threshold power of yours don't expect to have it all your own way  ... If I'm allowed to I'll still try and help promote next years end of season ACC Road Race with Paul Tunnels help. Now that Marek's out of the picture it'll be interesting to see who your rivals will be at the end of next summer :D

Hey, I reckon they have at least a few more seasons in them. Anyone want to buy a pair of ACC shorts with aeration sections on the front to keep your gonads cool. Specially designed courtesy of the tarmac at Dunsfold I believe.

Cheers

Well i guess its not much of a suprise really, i never raced with Tim or Marek. But i have been thoroughly beaten by both sprinting for the cafe... And i did race once with toks, and he just amazed me how agressive he can be while racing!

So i guess a huge good luck is in order to all of you...

However, what will your sponsor think when Stu, Yohan, Matt, Simon, Kieran etc (and myself) get it together and out fox you guys!? Well, if we ever get the opportunity to anyway! I fully intend to become 2nd cat by mid-summer, so look out!

I may be up here liverpool, detached from the scene, but ill be back in late may. And with at least six weeks racing in my legs. And lets remember that the North West beats the South East hands down in the rankings, so the racing must be pretty tough up here... Not to mention the flat and very windswept roads of Lancashire that will play host to my training, which is now well underway now tonsillitus is behind me.

So all those ACC racers left, ill see you in 3 weeks. I think we should definately try to organise ourselves better for races next season in order to work together and hopefully win... more...

Also, im cheating this year... My uni (Liverpool John Moores) is one of the best for sports science in the country. And so i have gotten very friendly with a girl upstairs from me who is a sports science student. She has agreed to do me a nutrition plan and loosely coach me from now on. It is also very likely ill be able to get my VO2 max etc properly measures soon, which will either be interesting or depressing... But given proper nutrition, and a proper winter of thought out training (im not supposed to go over 85% of my maximum HR at the moment, which is easier said than done in the wind. But she says i also need to keep it above 70%, which means i actually have to pay attention to how hard im pushing. I guess thats the difference between training and just riding though...) Added to this i am also super motivated after such a long time off my bike with illness etc. Plus i went to Revolution 14 last nite, which was a real eye opener to young talent.

I dont know if any of you have heard of Peter Kennaugh (Glendene CC), but he recently won the world junior scratch championship. I saw him come third to Rob Hayles and Malcom Elliot at the support race for the Tour of Britain in London. Which in itself is pretty amazing for a 17 year old. But last night he was incredible, in the last race, the Elite 15km Scratch, He was superb. He didnt win but he single handedly chased down Wiggins and Hammond and rode straight past them. He was awesome, theres no way else to describe him... He is going to be a star. I actually met his mum at the TOB who was telling me all about his exploits at the Junior Track Worlds, she was obviously incredibly proud of him, and i would imagine she was telling anyone who would listen all about him last night... and rightly so!

Cheers,

Adam

Great post Adam. I left Sheffield at around 5pm on saturday night and did think about with the idea of driving over to Manchester but being stuck behind football traffic (SU v MU) put me off a bit plus the fact I was a bit tired and didn't fancy another three hour drive back to london after ten pm. Sounds like it was a storming night!!...

Good luck

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Mon Nov 20, 2006 12:39 pm

Well done. I could say it was great riding with you, but that would imply that I could actually keep up! So I'll just have to say it was great loitering around outside Coulsdon station with you all before the off! Good luck for the coming season in your new colours.
A special thanks to you Toks for all the advice and encouragement this year and convincing me to up my game and start racing.

Will it make much difference to your racing calendar, will you be able to pick your own races, i.e. still hang out at Palace and Hog Hill next year? will you now have to develop team tactics in support of ...? etc, curious about what the change will mean in terms of your riding tactics, goals for next year? How many in the team? will you get to race your races or play 'domestique' to a more established team racer? etc etc etc ...

As someone who has yet to buy an ACC top I can't complain about you not appearing in the ACC colours I suppose but I admit it will be odd you lot turning up in different colours (nice shade of blue, my wife would loves that colour).

What's happening to your current kit and bike bits? Will mosquito be giving you bikes to race on? or deals on items. Would be a bit odd if you were riding bikes that the shop didn't sell? Any good wheels going cheap???

So has Roger got you on the bit fit rig yet?

Kit and discounts is pretty much it. At our level I don't think many sponsors give out bikes, don't remember many of the Agisko Viner team actually riding Viners.

Quote from mosquito bikes website:
[quote]The Mosquito race team continues to compete regularly on the road and cyclo-cross circuit. With two new members this year the squad now boasts seven regular racing members.

so who in the team?:

Phil Sheehan - 2nd cat
Chris Farrell - 2nd cat
Russ Jones
Phil Burnett
Andy Dickson
Ian Cleverly

Hey Guys,

We ain't talking life changing here, we are talking racing in different colours with the name of the shop on it. That is pretty much it. We are all doing it for the fun of racing in a team, it has nothing to do with free anything as far as I am concerned. We are doing it for the fun of riding as a team and having different goals in mind for each race. It will be a laugh more than anything else in my mind.

Cheers

Hopefully the Mosquitoteers will still come out on the Club runs over winter otherwise things could get boring.

Next Saturday I will be out and fancy a fast one. My mate is likely to come along again but I think I will leave him with one of the other groups to look after him and we can have a nice fast training ride. Not sure I can keep up at the moment as have been doing a lot of long distance but not much speed.

Cheers
