The Following ACC Racers Have Switched teams For 2007:

A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

well, one problem highlighted in the last few threads is a communications problem. We seem to have people who attend the AGM/wednesday nights etc and may or may not use the forum/website and those who only use the forum/website for information. E.G. if Paul T had access to the forum he'd have known about the ACC road race this year earlier etc I have only found out about the AGm stuff from RichV posting it here etc, never knew we had a road race last year and certainly didn't know about the coach thingy. I don't attend the Wednesday night thingy as it clashes with commitments of my wife and I am sure others either are not that into the club as long as they can go out on Saturday or also have valid reasons for not attending.

Also now the forum seems to be the main way of getting information out maybe there should be a news section with someone posting various news coming from the wednesday meetings etc.

On a separate note whats the age limit for juniors?

But as RichV says it is our club and if we want something out of it we should try and put something into it, but again some information from people with past experience or with links to the committee would be helpful.

For example if I wished to organise a training session (for beginners and experienced trackies) at Calshot (?) velodrome (is this our nearest covered one) how would I go about it? I was taking with Kevin and some others about track racing at the Dinner and would love to try it out. I know AC did a session there before.

Finally I do feel there's a slight irrational fear of attracting purely racer types such that any suggestion of putting on more promotions (beginners race would be a great idea!) or improving organisation racing wise is probably frowned upon by the club hierachy. This year I just picked up on Rob Fallon's brilliant idea of a club RR. Rob too was highly motivated and wanted to get more people racing for ACC even though it wasn't his first claim club.

Toks this part is complete rubbish. The reason we don't have beginners races, a club coach etc. etc. is not because those that run the club are against it but that nobody in the club says they want to organise it.
Glad you knocked that one on the head Rich. :D In truth, I was being slightly provocative. But its something that some present and ex ACC racers have said to me on a few occassions - sometimes its not about whats true its about what people want people to believe. Why those beliefs exist would make an interesting debate over a few drinks I'm sure :D

I'm not sure if there's an official definition Stu but its essentially a small group of hardcore racing types who ride a set route fairly fast each one taking turns on the front or doin thru and off. Just like the training group :D

not to be confused with a prison chain gang, although there are probably some similarities

I believe there is a Chain Gang that meet at Elmers End once a week. Too far away for me but apparently it is serious stuff with a bunch of Elite boys basically trying to ride eveyone into the ground.

Stu, you should try it out, someone is bound to know what I am talking about and post the details. They take a route which is a loop, so once you get dropped you can pick them back up on the return leg and try your best to stay in again.

Cheers

Last year the chain gang went out Tues and Thurs, starting at Elmers End, 7ish for an hour's through and off.

Good hard workout, get's you up to race pace for the early season races.

dont be put off...when your drafting this is fairly easy! so just hope that theres a good turn out so your not constantly hitting the front before you got time to rest
