[quote]240+ miles in 12 hour TT.

Jon, as a maths person I think it would be more aesthetic is this was upped to 250+ miles, a nice round one quarter of 1000 miles; also where's your 24 hour TT goal, you slacker, you're meant to be setting goals to push yourself!

Simple goals for me.

1. Break the hour for a 25
2. Go under 2 hr 5min for 50
3. Hopefully after achieving 2 getting a ride in the National 50.
4. Doing my first 100 TT
5. Before all of the above finish building my TT bike before Feb.

There you go all measureable and most importantly ACHIEVEABLE.

They are of course now something that you can be beaten over the head with this time next year should one fail. :wink:

Yeah in terms of scientific definitions. Lactate Threshold is the kind of intensity most people ride at in a 60-180minute ride. Your Functional Threshold is 1hr TT intensity. In heart rate terms its about 15beats higher than LT[quote]My racing goals will depend on how close I get to my AT/ftp/lt4 goal.
If you're talking about TT's maybe but then you gotta think about your power relative to your frontal drag etc etc...But I'm sure your talking about mass start races unfortunately racing savy, psychological strength, anaerobic, neuromuscular and VO2max power will all have an equally important part to play in your RR success :D

OK Toks, my goals look something like the following:

1, Win a couple of early season races so get a quick promotion.
2. Get out to Geneva to do the round the lake race with David Findlay.
3. Try and do a few local cyclosportives in a reasonable time instead of dying half way around.
4. Make sure I beat Paul H and Aodan at least once up Box Hill.
5. Make sure that Stu does not achieve his Charlwood success, whether this year or next.

Cheers

... and also I'm now training 'more scientifically' so hence less hours on the bike...

1. To try and gain between 50-70 points as a 2nd cat
2. Win a Road Race
3. Go under the hour on a road bike
4. Do a short/long 22 on a road bike
5. Do at least five cyclosportivs and get gold in each one

I hope that training's very scientific Toks, or you're very good at grovelling and appologising. :D

1. Same as Sean, finish the Nove Colli (short route) alive.
2. Finish in the bunch, to then be competetive (gain some points) in RR. (Hillingdon to start with).
3. Race at least once at Palace, and not to embarrass myself.
4. 25:30 on a road bike on the Holmwood course.
5. Hope nobody remembers any of these at the end of the year.

Goals;

Do all the Gorrick spring series without catching flu (on the single speed).

Come into the summer with some strength and speed and at racing weight to defend my title at the relocated Beastway.

Race at Cumbria Bike Fest: 12 - 13th May 2007, hopefully meet up with Rory Black.

Save up and ride in Colorado in the summer and try to fit in a Super D race over there.

Cool, I might give you some assistance if I can for number 1...But I hope you're joking about number 5 - thats terrible!. If I'm out and Stu's fancies it I'll be his domestique and you'll be a marked man :D

Wow thats seriously fast Jon...which one of these will be most important to make that goal, course, pacing stretegy, power output and aerodynamics[quote]Ow's about that then...?
:lol: No 3's a bit of no brainer

I promise not to remember number 5 Andrew :lol:

A lot of TT goals coming out of the woodwork here, I think. Our collective aim in that field though must be to regain the Rawson Shield.

I generally set modest targets, keep quiet about them and then fail to reach them. So, in the interests of breaking at least the second of those, I aim not to be a second class TT man this year. It sounds vague, but in the SCCU 50 there is a prize for the best 'second class rider', namely one who has not done any of this in the last 3 years:

25mile TT in under 1:03 (my current PB 1:03:38);
50 in under 2:10 (2:11:43);
100 in under 4:30 (4:43:37).

Any one of those would do, but hey, why not put down for all three?!

My Goals.....

1) Do the Gran Fondo Cymru, as I couldn't do this last year.
2) Have a go at the Crystal Palace Circuit races, and aim to get a 3rd cat license.
3) Do a 25 mile TT in less that 1.05. Long term aim to go under the Hour.
4) Enjoy my cycling and try not to get too obsessed.

What about goals for addiscombe as a whole. I don't know what our ranking is within the surrey league, but I suspect its quite low. If there is a club ranking, it would be good to try and improve this. This would foster a team spirit..

Graham, Addiscombe were 20th out of 58 clubs in the Surrey League for 2006. This mainly takes into account road racing, but does also have some time trials in there as well. This is only for Surrey League races.

Cheers
