1. Beat Marek and Stu, thus saving the arguments between them
2. 2nd cat by August
3. So as i can ride the TOB support race in London (assuming they'll be one?)
4. At least entertain the thought of doing a time trial
5. Win a race, dont care where, just wanna know what it feels like!
6. Not get dropped from the E/1/2/3s at Hillingdon (especially when i have family watching, just plain embarrassing)

Other than that, enjoy it, thats the point of it all right!?

My goals are still a haze, but if I think about it for a minute I get:

- get the 2nd Cat licence (taking a headstart with 2 points already :-))
- get a podium at the European singlespeed champs in South France
- win a 3rd Cat road race
- win a mtb race
- survive a 12h TT
- bring bike+rider weight down to 65kg (one way or another ... )
- do or plan for an epic touring trip

2. Actually get some miles in during the week be it turbo or otherwise.
3. Go to Brighton and back at shall we say the social groups pace.
4. Ride from London to Cantebury the week before the TDF.
5. Complete the London to Paris ride without being slumped over the bars.
6. Participate in a few TT's.
7. Feel comfortable in the 17's no matter who is leading.

Goals

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Wed Dec 06, 2006 3:33 pm

Being a bit flighty and disorganised what I say I'll do tomorrow I usually end up doing the opposite so the first goal is to not do what I just said I usually do which should help with goals 2 - 4.....

2 Enter 4th cat races and not get dropped
3 Do a 10TT in less than 27 minutes
3 Enter the Catford and Becs hill climbs

Could be a bit tricky adding times for the place to place rides.
Simon, if you've never done any TTs try the Club evening 10s as they're a very good, friendly, and gentle introduction. You can give Toks a number then  , beating 30mins (20mph av.) for your first 10 is a standard target and you should be fine with that if you're comfortable in the 17s.

[quote]Enter the Catford and Becs hill climbs

Forgot the Bec Paul (but I'm not doing Catford as well!), I've got some unfinished business after my poor show in this years somewhat unusual conditions. Let's say 2.30 if the weather's good, 2.45 if they're a bit dodgy.

Not too soon Sylv, you get blown over in this wind :D .

more light weight bling for the bike then ? or are you planning on getting your weight down to ~57kg?? That frame of your's looks a bit heavy - I could take it off your hands and you could get a nice ligtht carbon frame

Sylvain,

I read, I think in the Joe Friel MTB book that a study of Pro level XC mountain bikers showed that most of them weigh 2lbs for every inch of their height.

That is roughly 1.43kg for every 4cm.

1. Do the Holmwood course in under 27 mins
2. Regain and improve levels of fitness (university means no riding for 2 months but road bike comes up after Christmas...)
3. Go out on a few club runs
4. Feel comfortable in 17s
5. Get in a position to start racing next season or season after...

I've just realised I'm 36 inches too short.

This weekend I achieved one of my goals for 2007 :D

Had an email from British Cycling to say they'd put me in for a Road Commissaires course this Saturday (yesterday) in Chelmsford. I had hoped I might be invited to attend a course but I did not expect to be until next year, if at all.

The course was very well presented covering many aspects. Plenty of opportunity to get involved, this was not a course where you're lectured to.

We took part in a simulated road race, playing the part of Chief Commissaire, and makeing the calls. Even had to stop the race for a horse crossing the road  Decide what to do about the competitor that overtook the Lead Car.

I hope this is a good sign for achieving my other goals for the coming year.
