Ride on New Years Day...

All those of you who were discussing new years resolutions listen up!

10am at coulsdon south station, monday (New Years Day), nice relaxed start time, for a ride to start the year as we mean to go on.

The route can be whatever people want it to be, within reason!

So anyone who thinks they'll survive the new years eve festivities let me know and ill see you on monday morning...

Well despite me being fashionably late, i thought the six of us had a good ride all the same!

I turned up at ccs 20mins after my earlier advertised time, oops. To find nobody there, oh well i thought, ill just do my own thing...

So i underneath a beautiful blue sky, with less wind than the doom and gloom forcast from the bbc predicted, i set off on my merry way.

Then just before reigate i cought up with six riders who were mending a puncture. Oh so there were people out, they just couldn't be bothered to wait! Nevermind, alan assured me he did his best to make them wait but they just didnt want to 'if the lazy sod can't be arsed to get out of bed on time...' was allegedly what they said. But hey, the sun was shining and i didnt care! Then we had a very socialble coffee outside cafe rouge in reigate before setting off to box hill...

The ride up to box hill was very restrained, until...

Stu just kept a relentless pace, which eventually i decided by the second hairpin was a little to hot for me... given the bottle of red and a half a bottle of champagne i must of put away the night before!

After picking up a bulgarian on the top of box hill, we headed back... All in all a good ride and a perfect way to start the year, even if my bed was hard to get out of this morning!

yes, well done for arranging it Adam. Actually the consensus was that you had been put off by the strong winds. It was such a nice morning and I think the view from Box hill was as clear as it can be. The psychological advantage of starting the year with a ride will no doubt last some time. The Bulgarian promised to join the club and we think he will turn up next week.

Thanks for organising us to go out together Adam, much more enjoyable as a group. We waited 'til 10:10 at CSS but as Alan said we thought the wind had made you think twice, I'd had second thoughts on my way down.

I think it's always good to go out on new year's day to put some numbers on the ODO straight away after resetting it. As has been said, good ride, great view from the top of Box. Bulgarian fella was pleasant as well so a winner all round .

A good 47.2 miles on the reset clock.

I saw you all come whizzing through Purley Jan 1 on my way back from Mayday Horspital (visitor not in/outmate). If the smiles on yer faces were anything to go by you'd all had a good time (oo-err missus).

Moving house this Friday - who knows, I may even find that damn bike somewhere at the bottom of a pile of crap in the shed.
