hillingdon- 13th of jan

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

I'm planning on going (didn't yesterday). Think the route from Coulsdon would be about 25-30 miles, but I don't really know the way.

What I usually do is take the train from East Croydon to Victoria (20 minutes-ish), then ride the easy route to Hillingdon (along Uxbridge road, about 13 miles / 50 minutes), If you time it right you don't even have to do a warm up when you get there (unlike most of the guys there applying warming oil to their legs!).

If the weather is nice enough I could be up for getting there in time to watch Stu, John and Paul (or have you quit now you have your points Paul?).

And there's got to be a few hints and tips in the various reports from Hillingdon!

To get there by car you go via M25 and M4 and turn off at J3.

I'm probably not experienced enough to give tips apart from the usual like keep at the front of the bunch and try to spot the stronger riders. The club runs are far harder and you are a good sprinter so you shouldnt have any problems.

Good Luck

Ah yes via the M25 of course!

I drove to Heathrow today, took 45 minutes from Croydon.

But that was at 5am.

It only took about 40mins but that was over xmas so I would allow at least an hour to get there plus at least 1/2 hour to sign on and warm up.

It looks to be dry (but probably windy!) on Saturday.
