Toks, to make your day, it was bad. I got to the bottom of Crockham hill and basically my legs said, nope. I was in the small ring and on the biggest cog I could find and still out of the saddle or in it I was dying.

I crawled to Westerham where the others had kindly waited outside the cafe for me to turn up. In fact I took so long I actually thought they had finished there tea and coffee and were about to head off. Thankfully we went in and spent a good 45mins to an hour eating toast and drinking coffee and tea. I then headed back to EG back over Crockham again and the others headed back towards Croydon.

Ah well, not racing season yet, hopefully by then eveyone else will have slowed down and I will have sped up. Hmmm, wishful thinking.

Cheers

Hi Ian, it went okay. Jon was clearly suffering so it was the lonely road today (ahh). I know quite a lot of roads near me though and it means I'm in the country lanes in a mile and don't have to ride through town for 6-7 miles first.

Legs felt dead at the start so decided to save them the torture that is Slines Oak Road. After a couple of miles I realised I was just pootling along at shopping pace so decided that if I was going to chicken out of the big hill I should really put some effort in.

Spent the rest of the ride head down and blasting along as best I could, although that was a nasty wind today. Only felt any benefit from it on Pilgrims Way, which is one of my favourite roads anyway, and allowed me to blat along between 25 and 30 all the way :D .

There were a lot of people out today enjoying the winter sun. 8)

Sorry Andrew, you were right, after thrashing the mighty Rotherham it seemed only right to have a beer or two after the match or was it 5 or 6! Woke up with the good intention of joining you on your ride , but after failing the tooth brush at the back of the mouth test, i thought it would be better to go back to bed.

Oh Marek stop feeling sorry for yourself. I was only messing. Knowing that you suffered would only make my day if I knew you'd be larging it up a bit too much and I was the one dishing out the pain :D Thats probably not gonna happen this season so no probs. I think you know Phil already. What did you think about Jason? [quote] but after failing the tooth brush at the back of the mouth test,
Whats does that diagnose then Jon?

Jason is super strong on the hills, blimey he seemed to fly up them, mind you Paul H seemed to be keeping up very well. Every little rise we got to seemed to be a race, I was finding that I had to launch myself off the front at the bottom of the hill so that I could still see the others just about when we all reached the top. Jason was first up all the hills I think. Well, it certainly woke my legs up, at least it has given me the motivation to start training harder.

Toks, hope to see you out and about soon. Are you able to come to the Reliability ride next Sunday?

Cheers

Toks, the tooth brush test is ( you asked for this  )when brushing your teeth in the morning after a good session on the beer, annd you get to the back ones if you start to urge and feel sick then its back to bed or lie down and just quietly die.

Thats sound like a good idea. I'll definitely try and make it a date.

Tut, tut Jon - and I thought you Milwall fans were meant to be 'ard. In reality a couple of beers and you're all curled up in bed feeling sorry for yourselves. :D
