Sad News

Hi All

I have been asked to pass on the terrible news that Denis Gillen sadley passed away on Friday night. He had been battling throat cancer for the past 6 or 7 months but unfortunately lost the fight as it spread to his stomach and bones. He leaves his wife Carol and four children, Shawn, Sarah, Andrew and David.

Denis and I were work colleages and had joined the agreeables together a few years back, both being keen cyclists. I'm sure those of you that new Den will remember his bright and cheery disposition and his ability to get stuck in - he always seemed to be leading the bunch on the Saturday club runs.
I don't know where or when the funeral will take place yet, but for those who new Den and would like to attend I will pass on the information when I get it.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Denis made me fell very welcome when I joined the club a few years ago. I only seen him a handful of times recently but it was always was a pleasure to meet him. Please pass on my condolences to his family.

Really shocking news - the last time I saw Denis he was helping out on a just for fun group on a club run. He was always interested in the people around him - always helping out in the club. He was track secretary at one point, and he was no slouch at Herne Hill velodrome either.

That's such a great a loss. Please send my condolences to Denis' family.

Like you Marco I was thinking the other week on how he was getting on. Indeed a great loss and definately 'one of the original Agreeables'.

He was a genuine nice person, always happy to help anybody with a smile.

He must be sorely missed by his family and friends...
