Mad Hubs

Has anyone seen the mad Roval Wheels that Quick Step are riding this year? Hope that the hub makes a big difference to aerodynamics because aesthetically they aren't helping the cycling cause.

Any idea  why they have been designed like this?

Brian the reason they have been designed like this is,
Specialized want to cause Extraordinary intergalactical upsets inside the peloton, but don't worry These wheels are no cause for alarm

i was looking at a pair in Evans yesterday - i couldn't work out how the spokes attach to the "spider".

I think I read somewhere that Specialized bought up Roval, an old wheel manufacturer, just to use the name -- note you can't see Specialized logos on them -- I think so they could sell to teams sponsored by other bike makers.

Kind of like Fulcrum wheels (Campag). Or Pro stems/bars/disc wheels (Shimano).
