A great ride. Up at six and on the road by seven riding thruogh derserted streets. I was the forst rider at the village hall so had a nine oclock start with Huw and about 15 others. A decent pace out to Turners, most of the group lurking around at the back not wanting to do any work , but luckily we were being dragged along by a couple of strong riders who seemed happy enough to sit on the front. Never having done the ride before and not knowing the route or how sadistic the organisers were I knew I'd probably set off a bit on the fast side and not sure if I would have much in reserve, but in for a penny , or in this case a fiver, I thought sod it. Huw, I'm glad I wasn't the only one dropped on Turners, was almost getting back on on the decents but gave up. A few fast groups flew past and I didnt even try to catch a wheel. Met up with Apples and then another ACCer, sorry forgot your name ,on the red Trek, but by this stage in the precedings I was starting to suffer.
Scoffed a few choccy bars at the last feed stop and started to get a bit of feeling back into my legs. Guy from Pearsons pulled in and we set off,but were soon joined by Marek, Tim and George so the pace shot up and I was off the back, again. Luckily the choccy bars kicked in and I managed to pass a few suffering riders on the last two climbs.
I didn't bother to check my exact time, but it was well within 4 hours so was pleased with that.
A great ride, well organised with good signage and good weather.
