Astonishingly good weather

That's what the weather-man reckons for this weekend - lots of sun, light winds and unseasonably mild temperatures.

Anyone doing any 'special' club runs?

Brighton? ToSH? Brass Monkey?

I'll be up for something different, was planning to start doing Box Hill again to get some extra miles in. After the cafe could always head out towards Leith Hill, Ewhurst, up to Shere, great decent, cup of tea then Coombe Bottom, Box Hill or something like that. Havent been to Brighton for a while though.

i was out today and it was great weather!!...i was worried that cycling was starting to loose its spark a bit. but today re-kindled my love for it. i forgot what it was like to feel warm in the surrey lanes. only thing that nearly spoilt it was nearly bieng run over...i fell in front of a car whilst cleeting up at the top of box hill i saw the wheel come by inches from my face, and when i checked myself over i found a trye print on the excess bit of jersy at my elbo bit of an adrenalin rush which helped me practically sprint the rest of the way home

I know what you mean about feeling a little jaded at this time of year.

I went motorpacing trucks on the Caterham bypass. I find varying your training helps keep the spark alight during the winter months. And with a face full of diesel at 35mph for 3 x 4 minute intvls you ain't getting bored I can tell you

Be careful though, we don't want you getting stale even before the season's started, this is a common problem with racers (especially young ones) who do too much in the winter and can lead to not fullfilling your potential when the season starts. Beware!

i was a little harsh saying cycling was staring to loose its spark. i ment more it was a bit more effort to motivate myself to get going during the week when im riding alone and its cold wet and windy...but days like today are an absolute pleasure!

I intend to go out with the club this weekend, was just going to do the normal club run, but if you are planning on something a bit longer with hills in it then I am well up for that.

Maybe a ride out to Reigate then straight on down to Dorking. Then you can do Coldharbour, Tanshurst, Cranleigh, Shere, Whitedown, Box Hill, bed.

I'm game for something different, or normal faster CR with Paul's Box return and extension sounds quite good.
With this good weather I shall bring the good bike out of hiberbnation and save myself lugging the anvil up hills.

What say we do the CTC hilly 50, I have the route instructions and it would be preparation for the real thing and with the ride over and back I would guess nearly 100 Km and insurance against bad weather on the day???

yeah I reckon so - ride out with the club run to Reigate Common turn off through Betchworth and Brockham, join the course at bottom of Westhumble

Just been out today - ridiculous - there's a WARM breeze blowing. What's the betting it'll be snowing in March when racing starts?
