Thanks for your replies, Alan, whilst I can understand the concern parents might have, I know I can guarantee any child on a ride I attend will not in any way be abused ( I'm not really concerned about the risk of false allegations). So that's not a problem for me.

What I can not guarantee, is that they won't have an accident and cause themselves injuries.

I'm thinking what if a 16 year old had seen Grahames' post on the forum and turned up on sunday at East Croydon ?

Clearly adults ride at their own risk, but it seems that minors are the responsibility of the other adults.

With off-roading in particular, requiring constant risk assement and desision making, I don't much like that.

Stu, due to the nature of my other halfs job i am "police checked".

When I next see you on the club run I will make sure that your steed is in

good stead.

(Double spaced for Mr Magoo)

Notice he didn't say the result of the check. Only that he'd been checked.

My guess is that CTC would be able to be a bit more cycle specific about this issue and I imagine they have a person designated of H&S and for young people and certainly expert legal advice.

Stu - we all feel safer when uncle Ian is around!
