Let's Race Bike's

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Let's Race Bike's

Postby George » Mon Feb 19, 2007 11:06 am

It’s only a few weeks now to the start of the racing season, I’ve entered a few Surrey League’s, to kick things off this year, really looking forward to giving road racing a bash.
Time to see what all this training has done?

It would be great to have a few Agreeables in the mix together so we could get a good team
Out together.

I’ve entered the following:

• Sunday 4th March Chertsey E123h/cap
• Sunday 11th March Alford 3 cat
• Sunday 18th March Dunsfold 3 cat
• Saturday 31st March the Addiscombe one 2/3 cat

I'll be doing some of those, will decide which (prob. just the 3rd cat only for a change!). Missing Hillingdon already (almost went down in a nasty sprint-finish crash ahead of me though yesterday). Got scrapes on my hand not sure if it's from riding over someone's bike or banging into my brake levers, was a bit of a blur!

Oh and saw someone whose forks snapped in the crash, and another one with a big crack along his carbon toptube. Not to put you off racing!

It would be good to see you again Sylv, haven't ridden together since last summer.

That sounds like a nasty wipe out, it must have been a surreal bluuuur infront of you.

I'm not too worried about being involved in any crashes, I dunno why but they always seem to happen next to me

Note to self: stay away from George this summer.

What's the deal with the Surrey League races?
Do you have to join the Surrey League in order to race their races, or can you enter on the line without joining the SL?

I've entered Dunsfold & Alford.

Might do Chertsey if I have finished building my race bike.

It's best to pre enter the races just so you can ensure you will deffinately get a ride!

There's no real time limit to enter in advance but it states on their website best at 21days alough that is playing safe if you ask me.

http://www.surreyleague.co.uk/rules.htm

£20 series registration fee

£17 Entry fee no registerd riders

£12 Registered riders

4 races and your quids in.

Great training ride with the Elmers End Chain Gang last night,

John (man in green) was pretty much dragging everyone round.
There were some quality riders there at least a dozen,
Us Agreeables were showing them up front, I think we dropped all but 1 returning up Polegate Hill

Marek said the early races are very popular.

I turned up on the day for a race in Kent last year and I was about 10th on the waiting list with only 5 spaces free. Fortunately a few dropped out but I had to wait untill 5 minutes before the start to know if I was in.
