Redhill CC Sporting

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Thinking about doing this as my first race of the season at the end of Feb. Anybody done it and can tell me what the course is GS/478?

It will also hopefully get me to complete my TT bike by then for it's first outing :D

Bit too early in the year for me, February is still winter. I normally start in March when i can convince myself it's spring.

Proceed to A25 where LEFT along A25 westwards via Westcott and Coast Hill (1 in 8 ascent) to junction with B2126 at Abinger Hammer (4.2 miles). LEFT into Felday Road B2126 and proceed southeast via Holmbury St. Mary to junction with Ockley Road (B2127) at Forest Green (8.8 miles). RIGHT onto B2127 and first LEFT into Horsham Road past The Parrot Inn. Proceed south to Mayes Green. Straight on, now along Walliswood Green Road, past the Scarlett Arms PH to junction with the Walliswood to Oakwoodhill Road signposted Oakwoodhill (11.2 miles). LEFT into Walliswood to Oakwoodhill Road and proceed eastwards to junction with Honeywood Lane at Oakwoodhill. Bear LEFT past the Punchbowl Inn and down to junction with A29 (12.8 miles). LEFT onto A29 and proceed north to Beare Green RBT. Well this plan has failed. I have just checked my rota, and I am due to work this weekend. Oh well it will just have to be the East Surrey Hardriders on 11/03/07 instead :D

Would be a nice course if it wasn't for the climb up from the dual carriageway to Rusper  Will hopefully see you there.

Have a look at the SCCU hardriders and SCCU Sporting 10/25 the next couple of weekends as well.

The Southern Counties Hardriders is already on the calender. There might be hope about the Redhill ride still. I think that my boss has got it wrong. I am supposed to work one weekend in eight and I have just finished working this weekend, so we shall see

Yippee the cycling season has begun

When I decided to do this I set myself the target of going round in 50 mins and trying to scrape into the top 20. When I received my start sheet and saw that Christian Yates was 4th last year with 50mins, I thought it was time to revise my estimation. Ableit the event today was on a mile shorter course after I drove it yesterday I thought that if I could get within 10 mins of the winner I would be happy. To be honest after driving it I was dreading it.

Due to problems with some parts for my TT bike, I was riding my road bike with Profile clip ons. Kindly on test from Mr Munnery. I was looking forward to using them as when I was warming up they felt comfy and fast, always a good sign. The start is on the A25 and after the the 1 in 8 just after the start I felt like I was hammering along.

Left turn into the country lanes, I think to myself, why is my right arm moving up and down. Piffle or some such expletive came from my mouth, my right clip on has come loose. Within a mile the spacer had come out from the bracket and my right clip on was pointing down at the floor. So it was down on the drops for the rest of the ride.

What a fantastic course, up and down and twisty through lovely scenery. The course eventually comes out onto the A29 and part of my cunning plan was to give it some along there. What a feckin horrible road surface, really rough and slow. Then it was onto the A24 and up to Holmwood (end of the 10 course), which was into a bit of headwind but I felt quite good and the finish. The first TT I have ever ridden where there are distance markers from 5 miles in. This really is a good indication of how well the event was organised. Superb!!

Back to HQ get changed. My time 48.48 Well pleased. Winners time about a 43 I think. Top 20 - I don't think so. I think it was quite a fast day all round.

Roll on the East Surrey hardriders. Must get these bloody tri-bars sorted out though
