Tried from 12 and just kept getting "your basket is empty". Had lunch, and just tried again and it's still saying the same, and with 2270 places left. This doesn't tie up with Apples entry number out of 5000 places so no idea what's going on.

You're right Sean it is a rip-off, but I'll try. Failing that I'll probably just join in enroute without a number.

£40 ...yes it does seem a lot of money . But if this is the start of large scale sportives in the UK, then competition will only make them cheaper, and I think that sould be supported.

As for the "not even closed roads " argument I think [size=150]FIVE THOUSAND [/size]riders will close the roads anyway.

Yes the organisers will make some money !!

Try the tip Apples gave me - go through the British Cycling website. You end up at the same site, but it worked first time for me after about half an hour trying the Everyday Cycling site direct.

I won't be entering.
I won't be buying a BC racing licence this year (or any future years).
I refuse to give any money to BC after they let us down over the Eastway legacy. It appears that all they were interested in was getting another Velodrome, even at the expense of a very poor road circuit proposal and absolutely no offroad provision .

I'm going to save myself £33 and do the Southern Counties 50 instead. I suggest anyone who was too poor/tight/miffed with BC/slow to log on do likewise.

You won't get a t-shirt, but you will get a number, a marshalled route, electronic timing and (if you're lucky) a nice cuppa at the end. And all before the 5,000 have even reached Deptford, I suspect .

Tried for ages and coudn't get connection to server, then when I did, bugger me, they'd sold out.

I am going to ride the route anyway.

If enough get together, I will look at arranging a van to bring us all back.
