For those of you interested in how easy or otherwise it is to progress to the magic 2 x 20min, the next installment.
The plan for last night was to try 2 x 15min....despite saying previously I would only do another 2 x 10 min, here's some data:
- 10 min warm up (60%-75%)
- 15 min LT (80% within 1 min and then drifted up to 85-86%) [approx 85-90rpm 53 x 17]
- 1 min warm down
- 3 min rest (drink etc)
- 1 min warm up
- 15 min LT (80% within 1 min and then drifted up to 87-88%) [approx 85-90rpm 53 x 17]
- 5 min warm down (down to 60%)
Total session = 50mins
Quite surprised that I have progressed as quickly on this. Thought I would hit a psychological wall
after 10min in the first session but managed to push through
. This is also the longest I've ever been on the turbo and it seemed to go fairly quickly. Only support is some hard techno house, polar HR monitor and an intricately ribbed architectural phenomenon with a cunning system of levers and pulleys aka the garage door.
Generally finding the pacing okay (don't have a power reading so done purely on feel) and not struggling too much at the end to maintain the cadence (power proxy) despite the HR drift.
Is the HR right? Other people have mentioned HR in the 90+% zone. I had thought LT was 80-85%.
Will keep you updated although on hols next week. Aim to do a 2 x 20min by end of March.
