A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

I'll be there. :)

Working Saturday :( so no club run for me :( , but pass granted for Sunday :D .

Walking up the hills you say? I'll bring the singlespeed then.

Marco, can we also talk about doing an "emergency bodges" evening at the club room whilst we ride?

Bob has texted me to say he'll be there as well.

Marco

We should do this again as I get lots of people asking me on the club run if there is a MTB club run (a few women too).

If we can get enough notice I can drum up support on the CR

Cheers for the ride on Sunday Marco, was good to see another part of London. Thought i'd give you quick update on my stolen bike. I found it on Gum Tree on Monday night, arranged to meet the guy tonight to buy it..turned up with 4 lads from work and waited. Two little Sh*ts turned up, one on my bike. I had a quick look at it to make sure then a little nod of the head and the lads moved in. Told the kid he had two choices, either walk away and nothing will be said or we sort it out now (its ok they were smaller than me)...mad thing is he just shook my hand walked away... and turns out he's cleaned it, fixed the right break and even left a light on the back. So one for the cyclists..and I'm a two bike family again... catch you later

Mmmmm.... interesting approach - tales of the city and modern times but I suspect he'll just find the next one to steal

You may find your bikes or ones stolen from others here. When tracking things I have used a selective/filtered RSS feed to keep an eye out items of interest.

Tactics were keep an eye out on ebay, gumtree and a couple of other auction sites. Thing is there really aint many tricrosses out there so i was lucky on that front. I got 4 other mates to contact the seller, firstly to get him excited due to the response (and hopfully a little less nervous) and i knew he would arrange to meet one of the possible buyers (in a public place). Sure enough my mate in Doncaster was the winner so he set it all up for me..funny thing is hes a copper so he deals with little sh1ts like that every day. check the advert out though.. make you laugh http://www.gumtree.com/london/29/8512329.html.

It seems quite a sophisticated approach - I imagine he has perfected this over time - Is there no way to prevent his further thefts? I imagine he will be on the case again quite soon.

bike was taken from Putney high street but he put Shoreditch down as his location. I'll check gumtree every now and again for that mobile number to see if he does it again

Hi Ian, excellent news about your bike, I know the satisfaction you can get when you persevere and recover something you think might you never see again.

Once had a few hundred pounds worth of power tools nicked from my car, found them for sale in a shop the next day. Great feeling out-smarting a crook. Did you get all your bits back too ?

Are you still after a Pompino ? Because I was in Bike Plus today and they got a second hand one for about £300. It's size 57cm, and it's been upgraded - can't remember the details, but carbon forks, h/built wheels and mudguards. Mint condition. If your interested contact them.

The problem with regular MTB sunday runs Alex, is that the burden of leading always rests with Marco. Whilst clearly no one knows the trails anywhere like, as well as Marco, it's a bit unrealistic to expect Marco to always lead.

What would be ideal (although probably also unrealistic) would be if Marco had maybe 4 to 6 'deputies' who worked a rota and where prepared to lead should Marco decide he wanted a week off.

Don't know who could be up for this so probably not very feesable  It's a shame because although Croydon is one of the biggest towns in the UK, we have some stunning off- road trails all in easy access from the centre.

I've posted this before but it's a reminder of what we've got in Croydon and all within 30 mins bike ride from East Croydon station. Can't help thinking sometimes that we're spoilt, and perhaps don't deserve it !

I wonder if the East London crew have been busy again?

http://www.gumtree.com/london/24/8477224.html

Out of interest, where in Putney did you leave it, and how was it locked up?

(I live in Putney and don't want my bike stolen!)

was left on the high street infront of waitrose, locked to the fence just below the massive sign that says CCTV in operation at 11am on a saturday morning......it was pretty busy as well. And they got through this in 5 mins http://www.kryptonitelock.com/inetisscr ... em&pgrp=20.

also if you live in Putney let me know if you fancy any local rides, night rides or weekend rides, i'm always looking for local folk to show me the trails
