Goerge I'm intrigued. Last year you appeared to be this fairly laid back club rider who gave it a bit of welly in the hills.

Anyone who rode with you knew you were pretty strong; but you didn't seem like the type who was gonna be a hard core racer. I was marshalling when you got dropped at Palace in the 3/4 race and you just kept going totally unfazed smiling your way around the circuit.

In fact at one point in the summer you just seem to enjoy lovely social rides with your wife/girlfriend (and there's nothing wrong with that ).

Now your a dead cert for 2nd cat, in fact if you don't crash I'll put my house on it; you're killing 1st cats in chain gangs. Its fascinating. WHAT HAPPENED DUDE???

As Matt says before the bike arrived George was on a heavy steel bike which appears to have given him superhuman strength.

He was still one of the first up every hill on the few Wednesday hill rides I did, and that was on a heavy steel frame complete with rack to add some extra weight , downtube shifters, and a 42 tooth "small" ring! Compact chainring, whats that?
