2nd-hand bike advice

Postby Dombo » Sun Mar 18, 2007 8:24 pm

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my bike and a friend has offered me his 2003 Specialized Allez Comp (white with red zebra stripes). Retailed at £1500, has full original Ultegra, all alloy frame, Columbus E4 I think, stock carbon forks and approx 3500 hard but dry miles on the clock.

Any idea as to what it is worth so I can make him a fair offer?

All advice gratefully accepted.

Is the Ultegra 9 or 10 speed?

Check out the bikes on here. Allez are quite low range frames, Ultegra is a good groupset, but I think that the 2003 model is a bit dated. It is probably 9 speed and is going to be worse than the 10 speed 105 that is now used on the more modern version of the Allez. See link above for some prices of newer versions.

So taking all this into account I would give him about £350 to £400 if it was in alright condition.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

9 speed, 12-27 (he's a mtb-er like me so none of this 23 tooth lowest gear malarkey!)
