Change of circuit for ACC race?

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Change of circuit for ACC race?

Postby Phil S » Tue Mar 13, 2007 2:19 pm

Was the ACC race not meant to have been on the Rusper circuit? What is Henfold Hill like in comparison? The name rings a bell but I can't picture it...

Have to agree with Adam, the publication of results and start lists is pretty poor.

Yeah they're pretty poor with staying upto date with results and start sheets. Don't worry Adam they'll have your details. I think someone called Glyn is in charge of that stuff and he's been on holiday apparently.

The HQ is Leigh Village Hall.

Don't know the whole circuit. The section I rode with Paul last weekend was flattish with a couple of drags.

Don't knock the Surrey League's organisation. It's done at minimal cost by volunteers who have ensured that there is regular road racing in the area for many years (as well as effectively run many if not most of the events). People have holidays, and even when on holiday Glynn has been sending out info by e-mail updates.

If you've got the time available to update the website daily then volunteer, I'm sure they'd be glad of the assistance.

Yeah fair comment Rich. We should always consider that racing (TT/RR) only occurs because enthusiasts dedicate their free time to putting on events and more than likely dipping into their own pockets. That reminds me I've still got four cartons of orange drink left over from last summers ACC Road Race

Well I'm judging the finish on Saturday but I'd prefer champagne to orange juice, it might help me out with this blue/white colour blindness I'm suffering

 lets hope its not an ACC/MOSQUITO BIKES photo finish then...Seriously though, its gonna be a tough race and a hill top finish will make judging fairly straight forward I'd imagine. :D

I saw some riders empty or even throw away their bottles just before the climb at the finish at Dunsfold, wonder what else you can get rid of before a 20%er?

The 'climb' to the finish certainly isn't. I cycled up it on my TT bike with only a single front 56T chainring without too much hassle and I'm a fat knacker. If there is a 20% hill on the course it's not on the run in to the finish (although it may seem like that after a few laps with the 2nd cats  )

On the OS map, Henfold Hill has one chevron, so it's at least 1 in 7 (14%). If it was 20% it would have 2 chevrons. Marco's probably right with 1 in 6.
